AMBER, the near-infrared spectro-interferometric three-telescope VLTI instrument

Romain Petrov, +98 more
TL;DR: AMBER as mentioned in this paper is one of the VLTI instruments that combines up to three beams with low, moderate and high spectral resolutions in order to provide milli-arcsecond spatial resolution for compact astrophysical sources in the near-infrared wavelength domain.
Journal ArticleDOI

First direct detection of a Keplerian rotating disk around the Be star α Arae using AMBER/VLTI

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the AMBER/VLTI instrument operating in the K-band, which provides a gain by a factor of 5 in spatial resolution compared to previous MIDI and VLTI observations, and combined the high angular resolution provided with the (medium) spectral resolution of AMBER to study the kinematics of the inner part of the disk and to infer its rotation law.
Journal ArticleDOI

Near-infrared interferometry of eta Carinae with spectral resolutions of 1 500 and 12 000 using AMBER/VLTI

Gerd Weigelt, +103 more
TL;DR: The first NIR spectro-interferometry of the LBV? Carinae was performed with the AMBER instrument of the ESO Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI) using baselines from 42 to 89 m as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct constraint on the distance of $\gamma^2$ Velorum from AMBER/VLTI observations

Florentin Millour, +109 more
TL;DR: The first AMBER observations of the Wolf-Rayet and O (WR+O) star binary system y² Velorum were presented in this article, with a resolution R = 1500 in the spectral band 1.95-2.17 micron.
