Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, experimental results on the production of two or three heavy (Z ⩾10) fragments in the 22 Ne + Au collisions at 60 MeV/u are presented; the three fragment requirement selects large linear momentum transfer (70%) and large excitation energy (3 − 5 MeV /u.m.a.) for the incomplete fusion system.

TL;DR: The data reveal the presence of strong correlations between character of a collision and neutron multiplicity, and suggest a disassembly of the nuclear system into a large number of nucleons and small fragments in the events with the highest neutron multiplier.
Abstract: Nuclei with {ital Z} up to 82 emitted in the {sup 208}Pb+{sup 197}Au reaction at {ital E}{sub lab}=29 MeV per nucleon have been measured as a function of the associated neutron multiplicity. The data reveal the presence of strong correlations between character of a collision and neutron multiplicity. The trends suggest a disassembly of the nuclear system into a large number of nucleons and small fragments in the events with the highest neutron multiplicity. In such events, approximately one-third of the neturons are released from the system and fragment yields decrease in an exponential fashion with increasing mass.

TL;DR: In this paper, three fragment production has been studied in peripheral 208 Pb + 197 Au collisions at 29 MeV/u, where the formation and subsequent decay of neck-like structures producing a small fragment emitted at mid-rapidity in between the two partners of a deep inelastic scattering.

TL;DR: In this article, decay products emitted in highly dissipative Pb+Au reactions at 29 MeV/nucleon were detected using a large area array and the m -fragment exit channels were fully compatible with the formation of a transient excited dinuclear system formed in damped collisions.

TL;DR: This version of A = 16 diers from the published version is slightly revised in that it has corrected some errors discovered after the article went to press and Reference key numbers have been changed to the NNDC/TUNL format.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A review article as discussed by the authors focused on the tremendous progress realized during the last fifteen years in the understanding of multifragmentation and its relationship to the liquid-gas phase diagram of nuclei and nuclear matter.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the FOPI-facility at GSI Darmstadt was used to study collisions of Au on Au at incident energies of 150, 250 and 400 A ·MeV.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a new method to implement fluctuations in the mean field dynamics assuming local thermal equilibrium, they calculate the fluctuation amplitude according to the statistical value and determine the associated density variance.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the distribution of fragments produced in events involving the multifragmentation of excited sources is studied for peripheral Au + Au reactions at 35 A MeV and an isotropic emission in its rest frame has been observed, indicating that an equilibrated system has been formed.
