Genetics of rheumatoid arthritis contributes to biology and drug discovery

Yukinori Okada, +115 more
- 20 Feb 2014 -
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study meta-analysis in a total of >100,000 subjects of European and Asian ancestries provides empirical evidence that the genetics of RA can provide important information for drug discovery, and sheds light on fundamental genes, pathways and cell types that contribute to RA pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

26G endo-siRNAs regulate spermatogenic and zygotic gene expression in Caenorhabditis elegans

TL;DR: Two nonoverlapping subclasses of 26G RNAs are identified that sort into specific RNA-induced silencing complexes (RISCs) and differentially regulate distinct mRNA targets and implicate a class of endo-siRNAs in the global regulation of transcriptional programs required for fertility and development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative Proteomics Analysis of Barrett Metaplasia and Esophageal Adenocarcinoma Using Two-dimensional Liquid Mass Mapping

TL;DR: Differentially expressed proteins differentially expressed in six Barrett metaplasia samples may have utility as useful candidate markers of esophageal adenocarcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating genetic ancestry and self-reported ethnicity in the context of carrier screening.

TL;DR: The analysis highlights the unreliability of ethnicity classification based on patient self-reports and recommends the routine use of pan-ethnic carrier screening panels in reproductive medicine and the use of an ancestry model would allow better estimation of carrier rates and residual risks.
