Toward Radioguided Surgery with β− Decays: Uptake of a Somatostatin Analogue, DOTATOC, in Meningioma and High-Grade Glioma
Francesco Collamati,Alessandra Pepe,F. Bellini,V. Bocci,G. Chiodi,Marta Cremonesi,Erika De Lucia,Mahila Ferrari,P.M. Frallicciardi,Chiara Maria Grana,Michela Marafini,Ilaria Mattei,Silvio Morganti,Vincenzo Patera,Luca Piersanti,L. Recchia,A. Russomando,Alessio Sarti,Adalberto Sciubba,M. Senzacqua,Elena Solfaroli Camillocci,C. Voena,Davide Pinci,Riccardo Faccini +23 more
TL;DR: Uptake of 90Y-DOTATOC in meningiomas was high and the tracer can still be effective for RGS, particularly if further research and development is done to improve the performance of the β− probe.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel radioguided surgery technique exploiting β − decays
E. Solfaroli Camillocci,Guido Baroni,F. Bellini,Valerio Bocci,Francesco Collamati,Marta Cremonesi,E. De Lucia,Paolo Ferroli,S. Fiore,Chiara Maria Grana,M. Marafini,Ilaria Mattei,S. Morganti,Giovanni Paganelli,Vincenzo Patera,Luca Piersanti,L. Recchia,A. Russomando,Marco Schiariti,Alessio Sarti,A. Sciubba,C. Voena,R. Faccini +22 more
TL;DR: The use of β−-emitting radio-tracers and β− probes is proposed and the advantage of this method with respect to the previously explored ones: the electron low penetration power allows for simple and versatile probes and could extend RGS to tumours for which background originating from nearby healthy tissue makes probes less effective.
Journal ArticleDOI
MR-based artificial intelligence model to assess response to therapy in locally advanced rectal cancer.
Riccardo Ferrari,Carlo Mancini-Terracciano,C. Voena,Marco Rengo,Marta Zerunian,A. Ciardiello,S. Grasso,V. Mare,R Paramatti,A. Russomando,R. Santacesaria,A. Satta,E. Solfaroli Camillocci,Riccardo Faccini,Andrea Laghi +14 more
TL;DR: AI models based on textural features of MR images of patients with LARC may help to identify patients who will show CR at the end of treatment and those who will not respond to therapy at an early stage of the treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Properties of para-Terphenyl as a Detector for $\alpha $ , $\beta $ and $\gamma $ Radiation
Maurizio Angelone,G. Battistoni,F. Bellini,V. Bocci,Francesco Collamati,E. De Lucia,R. Faccini,F. Ferroni,S. Fiore,M. Marafini,D. Materazzo,Ilaria Mattei,S. Morganti,Vincenzo Patera,Luca Piersanti,Mario Pillon,L. Recchia,A. Russomando,Alessio Sarti,A. Sciubba,E. Solfaroli Camillocci,C. Voena +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used diphenylbutadiene doped para-terphenyl samples to measure a light attenuation length of 4.73 ± 0.6 µm for 660 µm photons, with respect to electrons of the same energy.
Journal ArticleDOI
First ex vivo validation of a radioguided surgery technique with β-radiation
E. Solfaroli Camillocci,Marco Schiariti,V. Bocci,A. Carollo,G. Chiodi,Marzia Colandrea,Francesco Collamati,Marta Cremonesi,Raffaella Donnarumma,Mahila Ferrari,Paolo Ferroli,F. Ghielmetti,Chiara Maria Grana,C. Mancini Terracciano,M. Marafini,S. Morganti,Monica Patanè,Guido Pedroli,Bianca Pollo,L. Recchia,A. Russomando,M. Toppi,Giacomo Traini,R. Faccini +23 more
TL;DR: This proof-of-principle test on a patient assessed that the technique is feasible with negligible background to medical personnel and confirmed that the expectations obtained with Monte Carlo simulations starting from diagnostic PET images are correct.
