Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of direct injection of hydrogen into the combustion chamber with that of induction through the inlet manifold for dual fueling was analyzed, and the experimental results were compared with simulated values and good agreement between them was noticed.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A comprehensive review of the past and recent research activities on the topic is documented in this paper, focusing on the in-cylinder combustion of hydrogen either as a primary fuel or in dual fuel operation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a direct injection (DI) diesel engine using hydrogen with diesel and hydrogen with diethyl ether (DEE) as the ignition source was evaluated and it was observed that hydrogen-DEE operation results in increased brake thermal efficiency by 20% and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) showed an increase of 13% compared to diesel.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the development of an experimental setup for the testing of a diesel engine in the direct injection hydrogen-fuelled mode was described, and a significant efficiency advantage was found when using hydrogen as opposed to diesel fuel.
