Journal ArticleDOI

Timothy B. Hallett,John Aberle-Grasse,George Bello,L. M. Boulos,M. P.A. Cayemittes,B. Cheluget,J. Chipeta,Rob E. Dorrington,Sabada Dube,A. K. Ekra,Jesus M Garcia-Calleja,Geoffrey P. Garnett,Stacie M. Greby,Simon Gregson,John Grove,S. Hader,J. Hanson,Wolfgang Hladik,S. Ismail,S. Kassim,Wilford Kirungi,L. Kouassi,Agnes Mahomva,Lawrence H. Marum,C. Maurice,M. Nolan,Thomas Rehle,John Stover,Neff Walker +28 more
TL;DR: Changes in patterns of HIV prevalence in urban Kenya, Zimbabwe, and urban Haiti are quite recent and caution is required because of doubts over the accuracy and representativeness of these estimates, but the observed changes are consistent with behaviour change and not the natural course of the HIV epidemic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Jean H. Humphrey,Peter J. Iliff,Edmore Marinda,Kuda Mutasa,Lawrence H. Moulton,Henry Chidawanyika,Brian J. Ward,Kusum Nathoo,Lucie C. Malaba,Lynn S. Zijenah,Partson Zvandasara,Robert Ntozini,Faith Mzengeza,Agnes Mahomva,Andrea Ruff,Michael T. Mbizvo,Clare D. Zunguza +16 more
TL;DR: Neither maternal nor neonatal vitamin A supplementation significantly affected postnatal MTCT or overall mortality between baseline and 24 months, however, the timing of infant HIV infection modified the effect that supplementation had on mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Winfreda Chandisarewa,Lynda Stranix-Chibanda,Elizabeth Chirapa,Anna Miller,Micah Simoyi,Agnes Mahomva,Yvonne Maldonado,Avinash K. Shetty +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of routine antenatal HIV testing for preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) in urban Zimbabwe was assessed using a specific training module from June 2005 through November 2005.
Journal ArticleDOI

Agnes Mahomva,Stacie M. Greby,Sabada Dube,Owen Mugurungi,J. W. Hargrove,D Rosen,K-L Dehne,Simon Gregson,M E St Louis,Shannon Hader +9 more
TL;DR: Comparison of data from sentinel surveillance systems, population based serosurveys, local studies, and service statistics provide increased confidence that a decline in HIV prevalence in Zimbabwe is actually happening in the population.
Journal ArticleDOI
