The impact of global climate change on tropical forest biodiversity in Amazonia

TL;DR: In this article, the impacts of expected global climate change on the potential and realized distributions of a representative sample of 69 individual Angiosperm species in Amazonia were simulated from 1990 to 2095.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of Indicator Systems for Monitoring and Assessment of Desertification from National to Global Scales

TL;DR: This paper suggests how the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) community can progressively make use of a flexible framework of analytical approaches that have been recently developed by scientific research to allow a standardized but flexible use of indicator sets adapted to specific objectives or desertification issues relevant for implementing the Convention.

Journal ArticleDOI

Estimating areas of degraded tropical lands requiring replenishment of forest cover

TL;DR: In this paper, it is estimated that reforestation of a third of all degraded lands in dry or montane areas and afforestation of about a fifth of the degraded area of croplands in dry regions (61.5 million ha) would prevent projected fuelwood deficits in those regions by the year 2000.
