Snow optical properties at Dome C (Concordia), Antarctica; implications for snow emissions and snow chemistry of reactive nitrogen
Martin D. King,Markus M. Frey,Joseph Erbland,Ghislain Picard,Susanne Preunkert,Alasdair MacArthur,Joel Savarino +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the e-folding depth, nadir reflectivity and stratigraphy of the snowpack around Concordia station (Dome C, 75.10° S, 123.31° E) to determine wavelength dependent coefficients (350 nm to 550 nm) for light scattering and absorption and to calculate potential fluxes (depthintegrated production rates) of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) from the snow-pack due to nitrate photolysis within the snow.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Fields of View and Directional Response Functions of Two Field Spectroradiometers
TL;DR: The area of measurement support and the spatial and spectral responsivity of an ASD Field Spec Pro FR spectroradiometer and a SVC GER 3700 spectroradometer have been determined by measuring the directional response function (DRF) of each instrument.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydroxyl radical and NOx production rates, black carbon concentrations and light‐absorbing impurities in snow from field measurements of light penetration and nadir reflectivity of onshore and offshore coastal Alaskan snow
Holly J. Reay,Martin D. King,Didier Voisin,Hans-Werner Jacobi,Florent Domine,Harry J Beine,Cort Anastasio,Alasdair MacArthur,Julia Lee-Taylor +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, photolytic production rate and snowpack absorption cross-sections were calculated from measurements of snowpack stratigraphy, light penetration depths (e-folding depths), nadir reflectivity (350-700nm) and UV broadband atmospheric radiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and photosynthetic dynamics mediate the response of SIF to water stress in a potato crop
Shan Xu,Shan Xu,Shan Xu,Jon Atherton,Anu Riikonen,Chao Zhang,jaakko Oivukkamäki,Alasdair MacArthur,Eija Honkavaara,Teemu Hakala,Niko Koivumäki,Zhigang Liu,Zhigang Liu,Albert Porcar-Castell +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantify the relative effect of structural and photosynthetic dynamics on the diurnal and spatial variation of canopy SIF in a potato crop in response to a replicated paired-plot water stress experiment.
A dual-field-of-view spectrometer system for reflectance and fluorescence measurements (Piccolo Doppio) and correction of etaloning
TL;DR: In this paper, a dual-field-of-view spectrometer system for environmental monitoring from rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicles or for fixed deployment on masts at research sites has been developed.
