Journal ArticleDOI

First result from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer on the International Space Station: precision measurement of the positron fraction in primary cosmic rays of 0.5-350 GeV.

M. Aguilar, +347 more
TL;DR: The very accurate data show that the positron fraction is steadily increasing from 10 to ∼ 250 GeV, but, from 20 to 250 GeV, the slope decreases by an order of magnitude, showing the existence of new physical phenomena.
Journal ArticleDOI

Infections and airway inflammation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease severe exacerbations.

TL;DR: Respiratory infections are associated with the majority of COPD exacerbations and their severity, especially those with viral/bacterial coinfection, and airway neutrophilia is related to exacerbation severity regardless of viral and/or bacterial infections.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of deficient type III interferon-λ production in asthma exacerbations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show deficient induction of interferon-λs by rhinovirus in primary bronchial epithelial cells and alveolar macrophages, which was highly correlated with severity of rhinovirus induced asthma exacerbation and virus load in experimentally infected human volunteers.
