Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Citric Acid on Growth, Ecophysiology, Chloroplast Ultrastructure, and Phytoremediation Potential of Jute ( Corchorus capsularis L.) Seedlings Exposed to Copper Stress
Aasma Parveen,Muhammad Hamzah Saleem,Muhammad Kamran,Muhammad Zulqurnain Haider,Jen-Tsung Chen,Zaffar Malik,Muhammad Shoaib Rana,Amara Hassan,Ghulam Hur,Muhammad Tariq Javed,Muhammad Azeem +10 more
TL;DR: Application of CA could be a useful approach to assist Cu phytoextraction and stress tolerance against Cu in C. capsularis seedlings grown in Cu contaminated sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foliar application of ascorbic acid enhances salinity stress tolerance in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) through modulation of morpho-physio-biochemical attributes, ions uptake, osmo-protectants and stress response genes expression.
Amara Hassan,Syeda Fasiha Amjad,Muhammad Hamzah Saleem,Humaira Yasmin,Muhammad Imran,Muhammad Riaz,Qurban Ali,Faiz Ahmad Joyia,Mobeen,Shakeel Ahmed,Shafaqat Ali,Shafaqat Ali,Abdulaziz Abdullah Alsahli,Mohammed Nasser Alyemeni +13 more
TL;DR: Recognizing AsA's role in nutrient uptake introduces new possibilities for agricultural use of this compound and provides a valuable basis for improving plant tolerance and adaptability to potential salinity stress adjustment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proximate Composition and Nutritive Value of Some Leafy Vegetables from Faisalabad, Pakistan
Mobeen,Xiukang Wang,Muhammad Hamzah Saleem,Abida Parveen,Sahar Mumtaz,Amara Hassan,Muhammad Adnan,Sajid Fiaz,Sajjad Ali,Zafar Iqbal Khan,Shafaqat Ali,Ghulam Yasin +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that vegetables of horticulture garden grown in suitable environmental conditions possess better nutritional composition as compared to vegetables purchased from markets, but a large-scale research is needed for the analysis of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, anti-nutrients and heavy metals in leafy vegetables.
Oxidative stress alleviation through enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants and osmoregulators generation in barley ( hordeum vulgare l.) under salt (nacl) stress by ascorbic acid (asa)
Amara Hassan,Muhammad Hamzah Saleem,Abida Parveen,Mobeen,Sajjad Ali,Abdul Shakoor,Q. Ali,Muhammad Sohaib Chattha,Shafaqat Ali +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of different levels of Ascorbic acid (0, 30 and 60 mM) in H. vulgare using two specific salinity levels, 0 and 150 mM, was investigated and it was shown that exogenous application of AsA considerably increased plant height, plant leaf area, sheet number, tillers number, plant fresh and dry biomass, photosynthesis pigments, and reduced the oxidative stress (H 2 O 2 and MDA) in plants which in turn reduced the enzymatic (SOD and POD) and nonenzymatic antioxidants (GSH and AsA).
