Abstract: This paper presents an improved watermarking algorithm using discrete wavelet transform (DWT), discrete cosine transforms (DCT) and singular value decomposition (SVD). Further, robustness and security of algorithm is enhanced by set partitioning in hierarchical tree (SPIHT) and Arnold transform, respectively. The experimental results evident that proposed method is imperceptible and robust against various form of attacks and found superior to other similar technique under consideration.

Abstract: Vicia faba L. (faba bean) is an important legume and is cultivated essentially as a cool-season crop. Changes in sowing dates and lack of precipitation expose faba bean crop to drought and heat stresses. The gradual rise in global temperatures owing to climate change is likely to exacerbate the detrimental effects of hot and dry climatic conditions on faba bean cultivation. High temperature stress is particularly damaging to faba bean during the flowering period, when the viability of pollen is critical for successful reproduction. Recent studies have shown that maintenance of protein homeostasis through synthesis of heat shock proteins plays a key role in the heat response of plants. To date, there has been no significant work linking the heat response of faba bean to the repertoire of its heat shock proteins. While quantitative trait loci have been identified for resistance against biotic stresses in faba bean, there is no parallel success with abiotic stresses in this species. Programs aiming at genetic improvement of the heat/drought resistance of this crop by both conventional breeding and molecular breeding methods are hampered because of the large and majorly ill-analyzed genome of faba bean plants. Likewise, molecular and biotechnology-related tools are poorly developed for faba bean; as a result, the fruits of transgenic research developed with model plant species are not reaching this crop. While specifically discussing the prospects for the genetic improvement of faba bean against heat and drought stresses, we highlight the areas of research which need to be strengthened on faba bean.

Abstract: Ovarian cancer is a debilitating disease, which needs multi-pronged approach of targeted drug delivery and enhanced efficacy with the use of combination therapeutics. In this study, we have examined the anticancer activity of PIK75 incorporated in surface functionalized nanoemulsions for targeted delivery to SKOV-3 cells. A pro-apoptotic molecule C6-ceramide was also co-delivered to augment therapeutic efficacy. EGFR and FR functionalized nanoemulsions incorporating PIK75 and C6-ceramide were characterized for particle size, surface charge, entrapment efficiency and morphology. Fluorescence and quantitative uptake studies were conducted in SKOV-3 cells to determine intracellular distribution. Cell viability was assessed using MTT assay while mechanism of cytotoxicity was evaluated using capsase-3/7, TUNEL and hROS assay. Cytotoxicity assay showed 57% decrease in IC50 value of PIK75 following treatment with EGFR targeted nanoemulsion and 40% decrease following treatment with FR targeted nanoemulsion. Combination therapy with PIK75 and ceramide enhanced the cytotoxicity of PIK75 compared to therapy with individual formulations. The increase in cytotoxicity was attributed to increase in cellular apoptosis and hROS activity. The results of this study showed that the targeted system improved cytotoxicity of PIK75 compared to the non-targeted system. Combination therapy with ceramide augmented PIK75’s therapeutic activity.

While the organization of the book is similar to previous editions, major emphasis has been placed on disorders that affect multiple organ systems. Important advances in genetics, immunology, and oncology are emphasized. Many chapters of the book have been rewritten and describe major advances in internal medicine. Subjects that received only a paragraph or two of attention in previous editions are now covered in entire chapters. Abstract: Nanocrystals are fundamental to modern science and technology. Mastery over the shape of a nanocrystal enables control of its properties and enhancement of its usefulness for a given application. Our aim is to present a comprehensive review of current research activities that center on the shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanocrystals. We begin with a brief introduction to nucleation and growth within the context of metal nanocrystal synthesis, followed by a discussion of the possible shapes that a metal nanocrystal might take under different conditions. We then focus on a variety of experimental parameters that have been explored to manipulate the nucleation and growth of metal nanocrystals in solution-phase syntheses in an effort to generate specific shapes. We then elaborate on these approaches by selecting examples in which there is already reasonable understanding for the observed shape control or at least the protocols have proven to be reproducible and controllable. Finally, we highlight a number of applications that have been enabled and/or enhanced by the shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanocrystals. We conclude this article with personal perspectives on the directions toward which future research in this field might take.
