TL;DR: This work has evaluated pre-contoured locking compression plates and titanium elastic nails for fixation of midshaft clavicle fractures and compared their results.
Abstract: Background: Results of conservatively managed mid-shaft clavicle fractures are not as good as previously thought. This has lead to increasing interest in primary fixation of these fractures. There are two main techniques of internal fixation, namely, plate fixation and intra-medullary nail fixation. We have evaluated pre-contoured locking compression plates and titanium elastic nails for fixation of mid-shaft clavicle fractures and compared their results. Material and Methods: Between July 1st 2015 and June 30th 2017 42 cases of unilateral displaced mid-shaft clavicular fracture were studied. 23 were managed by open reduction internal fixation with pre-contoured locking compression plates and 19 were managed by closed or open reduction and internal fixation by Titanium Elastic nails. Patients were followed up monthly for 4 months and at 6 months and 9 months. Final results were computed at end of 6 months. Functional outcome was compared using Constant Score. Other complications like non-union, delayed union, infection, implant failure, hardware prominence, refracture and wound dehiscence were also studied. Results: There was significant difference in constant score of two group with plating group performing better. Nail impingement was major concern after intra-medullary nailing. Union time was slightly better in nailing group. Conclusion: Pre-contoured locking compression plates gave better functional outcome and were associated with complications in fewer cases as compared to titanium elastic nails when used for surgical fixation of displaced mid-shaft clavicle fractures.

TL;DR: In this article, a study was conducted over 93 beneficiaries in Lucknow Mandal of Uttar Pradesh under Mini Kamdhenu Dairy Scheme (MKDS) to find out willingness of beneficiaries concerned to training in the areas of dairy farming.
Abstract: The study was conducted over 93 beneficiaries in Lucknow Mandal of Uttar Pradesh under Mini Kamdhenu Dairy Scheme (MKDS) to find out willingness of beneficiaries concerned to training in the areas of dairy farming. In order to identify perceived willingness of beneficiaries, the responses of individual beneficiary were recorded on four point continuum as most preferred, preferred, least preferred and not preferred with respective scores 4, 3, 2 and 1 by pre tested structured interview schedule of MKDS beneficiaries. Total weighted mean was calculated for each aspect by adding up frequencies and multiplied with respective continuum scores and ranked accordingly. The study revealed that majority of MKDS beneficiaries (73.1%) perceived most preferred off-campus training, lecture followed by questionanswer and practical (59.1%), frequency of training (one to three month) by (61.30%), duration of training (1-3 d) by (60.4%) and organization of training in rainy session by 61.3 per cent.

TL;DR: The Indian poultry sector with 7.3 per cent growth in poultry population, has witnessed one of the fastest growing sector, with annual growth of about 8 per cent in eggs and 10 per percent in meat production, over the last decade (2003-2013) amongst all animal based sectors (CARI, 2013) as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The Indian poultry sector with 7.3 per cent growth in poultry population, has witnessed one of the fastest growing sector, with annual growth of about 8 per cent in eggs and 10 per cent in meat production, over the last decade (2003-2013) amongst all animal based sectors (CARI, 2013). The high growth has placed India at 3 rd position in egg production after China and USA with a production of 75 billion eggs and 5 th position in chicken meat after USA, China, Brazil and Mexico (Kornel, 2008) with a production of 3.7 million metric tons of chicken meat. Poultry industry contributes about Rs. 600 billion, accounting for about 0.77 per cent of the national GDP and about 10 per cent of the livestock GDP and provides employment to over five million people in the country (CARI vision 2050). The country exported 4.3 Lac million metric tons of poultry products to the world for the worth International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 7 Number 08 (2018) Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

TL;DR: Various derivatives of Indole were synthesized using 3-acetylindole as a precursor and newly synthesized compound was found to the most potent Anti-inflammatory compounds.
Abstract: Various derivatives of Indole were synthesized using 3-acetylindole as a precursor. The structures of synthesized compounds were confirmed by the use of their spectral data FTIR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis. The IR spectra of newly synthesized compounds showed the presence of characteristic absorption bands in the region 3100-3400, 3000-3100,1750-1800,1680-1700 and1100-1240 cm-1 which can be N-H stretching, Ar-H stretching, C=O stretching, C=N stretching and C-N stretching respectively. The antibacterial activity of the synthesized Indole derivatives was determined in vitro using Cup-plate method on nutrient agar medium against Gram-positive bacterial strains (B. subtilis and S. aureus) and Gram-negative bacterial strain (E. coli) and antifungal activity was carried out against diamorphic fungal strain C. albicans and another strain A. niger at 25, 50 and 100 ug/ml concentration. The zone of inhibition was measured and compared with standard drugs Roxithromycin and Fluconazole at 50 μg/ml concentration respectively. Anti-inflammatory activity was carried out using carrageenan induced rat paw edema method by Winter et al. The results revealed that newly synthesized compound was found to the most potent Anti-inflammatory compounds.

Abstract: The 11th edition of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine welcomes Anthony Fauci to its editorial staff, in addition to more than 85 new contributors. While the organization of the book is similar to previous editions, major emphasis has been placed on disorders that affect multiple organ systems. Important advances in genetics, immunology, and oncology are emphasized. Many chapters of the book have been rewritten and describe major advances in internal medicine. Subjects that received only a paragraph or two of attention in previous editions are now covered in entire chapters. Among the chapters that have been extensively revised are the chapters on infections in the compromised host, on skin rashes in infections, on many of the viral infections, including cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus, on sexually transmitted diseases, on diabetes mellitus, on disorders of bone and mineral metabolism, and on lymphadenopathy and splenomegaly. The major revisions in these chapters and many

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of current research activities that center on the shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanocrystals, including a brief introduction to nucleation and growth within the context of metal Nanocrystal synthesis, followed by a discussion of the possible shapes that aMetal nanocrystal might take under different conditions.
Abstract: Nanocrystals are fundamental to modern science and technology. Mastery over the shape of a nanocrystal enables control of its properties and enhancement of its usefulness for a given application. Our aim is to present a comprehensive review of current research activities that center on the shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanocrystals. We begin with a brief introduction to nucleation and growth within the context of metal nanocrystal synthesis, followed by a discussion of the possible shapes that a metal nanocrystal might take under different conditions. We then focus on a variety of experimental parameters that have been explored to manipulate the nucleation and growth of metal nanocrystals in solution-phase syntheses in an effort to generate specific shapes. We then elaborate on these approaches by selecting examples in which there is already reasonable understanding for the observed shape control or at least the protocols have proven to be reproducible and controllable. Finally, we highlight a number of applications that have been enabled and/or enhanced by the shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanocrystals. We conclude this article with personal perspectives on the directions toward which future research in this field might take.
