Picosecond Mode-Locking And X-Band Modulation Of Semiconductor Lasers

TL;DR: In this paper, a segmented-contact semiconductor laser with a reliable, controllable saturable absorber is presented, which produces stable picosecond optical pulses, and a very high frequency (X-band) direct analog modulation of a semiconductor diode.
Journal ArticleDOI

Saturable nonlinear dielectric waveguide with applications to broad-area semiconductor lasers.

TL;DR: Self-focusing in a passive dielectric waveguide with a saturable nonlinearity with a good approximation to the lateral modes of broad-area semiconductor lasers under low-duty-cycle pulsed conditions is studied.

Phasor Derivation of the Fundamental Limits on the Spectral Purity of Laser Fields

TL;DR: In this paper, the quantum limits to the spectral purity of the laser output were considered using a simple model, and the results showed that the spectrum purity of a single laser can be improved with a simple quantum model.
