TL;DR: The present study aims to observe as the changes of alimentary habits, occurred in the last years, have relation with the increase of the worldwide epidemic obesity and, as modernity and its habits improve the obesity.
Abstract: The weight excess is a condition that has been showed interest since the Antiquity. Some therapeutically modalities have being implemented, however, few was advanced to the best obesity therapy. The present study aims to observe as the changes of alimentary habits, occurred in the last years, have relation with the increase of the worldwide epidemic obesity and, as modernity and its habits improve the obesity. The study was carried out through technical books, periodic and specialized magazine consultations. The prevalence of obesity is rising and a factor that contributes for that is the nutritional transition, with increase of the energy supply from the diet and physical activity reduction, called occidental contemporary life style. Industrialization and urbanization promote an increase of the caloric ingestion and physical activity reduction. Industrialization provoked important modifications in the workmanship hand distribution, with reduction in the extractives sectors and agriculture occupations. It must still be added that the television contributes for the determination of the occidental life style, and the marketing increases the consumption. The urbanization induced a change in the standards of living and alimentary habits of the populations. The nutritional intervention is necessary, because the obesity causes several damages to the health, beyond favoring the appearance of associated illnesses, as dyslipidemia and diabetes.

TL;DR: The prevalence of IPA is high among adolescents and that the definition adopted in this study is rarely used in the literature, suggesting that it is necessary the development of interventions for increasing physical activity levels among adolescents.
Abstract: Objective: To perform a systematic review of crosssectional studies on the prevalence of insufficient physical activity (IPA) based on a WHO-defined cutoff point (< 60 min/d of moderate and vigorous physical activity). Methods: The search was carried out using online databases (BioMed Central, CINAHL, EMBASE, ERIC, PsycInfo, PubMed MEDLINE, SCOPUS, SPORTDiscus), and included articles published from the beginning of the databases until February18th, 2012, as well as references cited by the retrieved articles and information provided by the authors. Only original articles using questionnaires in the diagnosis were considered. Results: Of 2,384 papers initially retrieved, fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria, of which seven were conducted in Brazil. The prevalence of IPA varied from 18.7% to 90.6%, with a median of 79.7%. In all surveys, the prevalence was higher among girls than boys and the developing countries have higher prevalence. Conclusions: We concluded that the prevalence of IPA is high among adolescents and that the definition adopted in this study is rarely used in the literature. These results suggesting that is necessary the development of interventions for increasing physical activity levels among adolescents.

TL;DR: It was observed that there were changes in the adoption of dietary pattern throughout the evaluated trimesters of pregnancy, especially for the groups of fruit, coffee, fats, fried snacks and sugar and sweets.
Abstract: Introduction: the nutritional panorama in Brazil indicates that the dietary patterns of the population is characterized by the increasing inclusion of saturated and trans fats, sodium, sugars, soft drinks. This epidemiological and nutritional challenges reflects in the patterns of illness and death. Objective: this study aims to identify patterns of food consumption and dietary changes in the first and third trimester of pregnancy. Methodology: this is a prospective cohort study involving 185 pregnant women in the State of Bahia, from 2012 to 2013. We used a food frequency questionnaire to assess dietary intakes. To identify the dietary pattern, the principal components factor analysis was adopted. We used the Pearson correlation test to identify the correlation between the patterns extracted in each trimester. Results: four patterns of food consumption during pregnancy were identified. We observed changes in the eating patterns over the trimesters evaluated, especially for the food groups of fruit, coffee, fats, fried snacks, sugar and sweets. Discussion: these dietary changes throughout the pregnancy accompany the physiological changes of each period of the pregnancy. In the first trimester, symptoms of nausea and vomiting are common, whereas in the same period cravings is reported, which may justify the consumption of a larger quantity of food deemed unhealthy. Conclusion: it was observed that there were changes in the adoption of dietary pattern throughout the evaluated trimesters of pregnancy, especially for the groups of fruit, coffee, fats, fried snacks and sugar and sweets.

TL;DR: Changes in prevalence of obesity were associated with numerous changes in food intake, depending on the level of schooling, and many high energy density foods showed a statistically significant increase in the period.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the utilization and coverage percentage of the Nutritio-nal and Food Surveillance System (SISVAN-Web) in the Regional Health Offices of Rio Grande doSul in 2010 and assess its correlation with so-cioeconomic, demographic and health system organization variables at the time.
Abstract: This article seeks to describe the utili-zation and coverage percentage of the Nutritio-nal and Food Surveillance System (SISVAN-Web)in the Regional Health Offices of Rio Grande doSul in 2010 and to assess its correlation with so-cio-economic, demographic and health system or-ganization variables at the time. It is an ecologi-cal study that used secondary data from the SIS-VAN-Web, the Department of Primary HealthCare, the IT Department of the Unified HealthSystem and the Brazilian Institute of Geographyand Statistics. The evaluation of utilization andcoverage data was restricted to nutritional sta-tus. The percentage of utilization of SISVAN-Webrefers to the number of cities that fed the system.Total coverage was defined as the percentage ofindividuals in all stages of the life cycle monitoredby SISVAN-Web. It was found that 324 cities fedthe application, corresponding to a utilizationpercentage of 65.3%. Greater system coverage wasobserved in all Regional Health Coordination(RHC) Units for ages 0 to 5 years and 5-10 years. There was a significant association between thepercentage of utilization of SISVAN-Web andFamily Health Strategy coverage in each RHCUnit. The results of this study indicated low per-centages of utilization and coverage of SISVAN-Web in Rio Grande do Sul.
