Influence of riparian vegetation and forest structure on the water quality of rural low-order streams in SE Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of riparian vegetation characteristics (RV) and riparian forest structure (RFS) on stream water quality in a tropical rural landscape in SE Brazil were evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of watershed land use and riparian characteristics on biological indicators of stream water quality in southeastern Brazil

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated if anthropogenic alterations at distinct spatial scales (estimated by land use, riparian zone composition, and riparian forest structure) influenced stream water quality according to chemical and biological indicators in a tropical rural landscape.
Journal ArticleDOI

Can the structure of a riparian forest remnant influence stream water quality? A tropical case study

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated if a forest remnant influenced stream water quality, and if these results were influenced by forest structure, finding that more stratified parts of the forest, with smaller trees, resulted in lower electric conductivity values and concentrations of total nitrogen and nitrite, whereas higher density of trees resulted in higher levels of total and dissolved P, creating heterogeneity at very local scales.
Journal ArticleDOI

Foliage Density of Branches and Distribution of Plant‐Dwelling Spiders1

TL;DR: It is suggested that branch architecture is the most important factor determining the abundance of plant-dwelling spiders in the study area independently of branch biomass, leaf surface area or texture.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of plant-dwelling spiders: Inflorescences versus vegetative branches

TL;DR: Observational and experimental data strongly suggest that inflorescences can be a higher quality microhabitat than non-reproductive branches for most plant-dwelling spiders.
