Improved thermoplastic polymer blend compositions comprising an isotactic polypropylene component and an alpha-olefin and propylene copolymer component, said copolymer comprising crystallizable alpha-olefin sequences. In a preferred embodiment, improved thermoplastic polymer blends are provided comprising from about 35% to about 85% isotactic polypropylene and from about 30% to about 70% of an ethylene and propylene copolymer, wherein said copolymer comprises isotactically crystallizable propylene sequences and is predominately propylene. The resultant blends manifest unexpected compatibility characteristics, increased tensile strength, and improved process characteristics, e.g., a single melting point.

Propylene olefin copolymers

The disclosed ethylene polymer compositions have et least one homogeneously branched substantially linear ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer and at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The homogeneously branched linear or substantially linear ethylene/α-olefin interpolymer has a density from about 0.88 to about 0.935 g/cm3 and a slope of strain hardening coefficient greater than or equal to about 1.3. Films made from such formulated compositions have surprisingly good impact and tensile properties, and have an especially good combination of modulus and toughness.

Ethylene propylene copolymers, substantially free of diene, are described. The copolymers will have a uniform distribution of both tacticity and comonomer between copolymer chains. Further, the copolymers will exhibit a statistically insignificant intramolecular difference of tacticity. The copolymers are made in the presence of a metallocene catalyst.

Propylene ethylene polymers and production process

An improved method of presulfiding a hydrotreating or hydrocracking catalyst which minimizes sulfur stripping upon start-up of a hydrotreating or hydrocracking reactor utilizing such a catalyst. The method comprises the steps of contacting a hydrotreating or hydrocracking catalyst with elemental sulfur at a temperature below the melting point of sulfur, thereby forming a sulfur-catalyst mixture, and heating the sulfur-catalyst mixture to a temperature above the melting point of sulfur. Preferably, the sulfur-catalyst mixture is first mixed with at least one member selected from the group consisting of high boiling oils and hydrocarbon solvents to form a prewet mixture prior to heating at a temperature above the melting point of sulfur. Tail gas treating catalysts are also presulfided by these methods.

A method of presulfiding a hydrotreating hydrocracking or tail gas treating catalyst

Compatibilized blends of polypropylene, linear low density polyethylene and a low molecular weight plastomer are disclosed. The blend preferably contains at least about 50 percent by weight of crystalline polypropylene, from about 10 to about 50 percent by weight of LLDPE dispersed in a matrix of the polypropylene, and a compatibilizing amount of an ethylene/alpha-olefin plastomer having a weight average molecular weight between about 5,000 to about 50,000, a density of less than about 0.90 g/cm3, and a melt index of at least about 50 dg/min. The blend is useful in the formation of melt spun and melt blown fibers. Also disclosed are spun bonded-melt blown-spun bonded fabrics made from the blends.

Plastomer compatibilized polyethylene/polypropylene blends

A composition of matter comprising a mixture of (i) a sulfide of at least one promoter metal selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Mn, Cu, Zn and mixture thereof and mixtures thereof with Fe, (ii) an amorphous sulfide of trivalent chromium and (iii) microcrystallites of metal sulfide of a metal selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, tungsten and mixture thereof. These compositions have been found to be useful hydrotreating catalysts having nitrogen removal activity superior to that of commercial catalysts such as cobalt-molybdate on alumina.

OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a process for selectively preparing severely sterically hindered secondary aminoether alcohols by reacting a primary amino compound with a polyalkenyl ether glycol in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at elevated temperatures and pressures. The severely sterically hindered secondary aminoether alcohols are useful in acid gas scrubbing processes, particularly in the selective removal of H2S from gaseous streams con-taining CO2 and H2S.

A process for preparing secondary aminoether alcohols

Iron-cobalt spinels which contain low levels of cobalt, in an iron/cobalt atomic ratio of 7:1 to 35:1, are converted to Fischer-Tropsch catalysts upon reduction and carbiding that exhibit high activity and selectivity to C2-C6 olefins and low CH4 production. The spinels have the initial empirical formula wherein x and y are integer or decimal values, provided x+y is 3. The spinels show a powder x-ray diffraction pattern substantially isostructural with F3-O4 and they have an initial BET surface area of up to 5 m'/g.

Cobalt-promoted fischer-tropsch catalysts

OF THE DISCLOSURE A class of catalysts which exhibit superior activity maintenance in dehydrocyclization reactions are defined as a type L zeolite having exchangeable cations of which at least 75% are selected from Group IA and calcium and barium cations and containing well dispersed particles of at least one Group VIII noble metal where at least 90% of the noble metal thereof is dispersed in the form of particles having a diameter less than 7 .ANG.. The catalysts may also be identified as type L zeolites loaded with at least one Group VIII noble metal which have a terminal cracking index (as a measure of production of pentanes versus butanes from hexane) of at least 1.5.
