TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed and tested a research model that investigates relationships between tourists' perception of the nature of tourism work and industry-person congeniality and both their burnout and engagement in their studies.
Abstract: Objective: The aim of this study is to develop and test a research model that investigates relationships between students’ perception of the nature of tourism work and industry-person congeniality and both their burnout and engagement in their studies, both of which may relate significantly with students’ career aspirations in tourism. Research Design & Methods: 158 tourism and hospitality students with work experience in the tourism industry filled in an anonymous paper-based self-administrated questionnaires. Findings: There are positive and significant correlations between perceived nature of tourism work, industry-person congeniality and students’ dedication. Simultaneously, the perceived nature of tourism work and industry-person congeniality correlate negatively with students’ cynicism towards their studies. Implications & Recommendations: There is a need for putting a greater concern on the person-job fit during both enrolment procedures for tourism and hospitality courses in higher education and while recruiting candidates for service job positions in the tourism industry. Greater attention should be put by practitioners on students’ work experience, as it may have an impact on the youth’s attitudes towards their future employment in tourism. Contribution & Value Added: The research value of this study may result from the fact that both students’ burnout and engagement has not been widely explored in the management literature.

TL;DR: Coaching is most helpful in the development of the following competencies: more effective management of one’s team, communication with other employees, and team work.
Abstract: Background. Coaching is rarely used in the hospitality sector, a branch facing numerous problems in the area of Human Resource Management (HRM). Meanwhile, owing to its uniqueness and distinctive features, it contributes to complex competency development, bringing many benefits to HRM. Research aims. Some questions arise: how is the coaching process implemented in the hospitality sector; which of its elements (setting a coaching goal, coach’s active listening, asking questions, providing feedback, or building creative atmosphere) have the biggest influence on competency development? Moreover, from the point of view of a gap in the conducted research, it would be useful to learn which competencies are developed with the help of coaching in the hospitality sector. Methodology. Due to the rarity of coaching in the hospitality sector a case study method has been used. Key findings. Coaching is rarely used in the hospitality sector. The most important element of the coaching process is posing thought-provoking questions by a coach – both in the realised as well as in the ideal coaching process. Coaching is most helpful in the development of the following competencies: more effective management of one’s team, communication with other employees, and team work.

TL;DR: It is argued that the process of introducing the Bill is the "heat" which has ignited the “fuels” represented by 12 pre-existing and new issues in quality of life and well-being, including distrust in the Central Government, lack of national identity, political dissatisfaction, economic dissatisfaction, mental health threats, and drop in family quality ofLife.
Abstract: Triggered by the Fugitive Offenders and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2019 in Hong Kong (Extradition Bill), many protests have taken place in Hong Kong in 2019-2020. Using a perspective based on quality of life and well-being in different ecological systems, it is argued that the process of introducing the Bill is the "heat" which has ignited the "fuels" represented by 12 pre-existing and new issues in quality of life and well-being. These issues included distrust in the Central Government, lack of national identity, political dissatisfaction, economic strains, mental health threats, drop in family quality of life, lack of life skills education, lack of evidence-based national education in the formal curriculum, slow response of the Government, and alleged excessive use of force by the police. The fire has been intensified by "four strong winds", including disinformation and misinformation, anonymity of the protesters, public support for the students, and support given by parties outside Hong Kong. Possible solutions in terms of promotion of quality of life and well-being with reference to the fire triangle are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the frequency of using social media by different generations and the scope of their use in planning a tourist trip in the light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, intensive marketing efforts and strategies to bring back sustainable tourism will soon become important.
Abstract: This article discusses the use of social media by different generations in destination marketing from a sustainable tourism perspective. In the light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, intensive marketing efforts and strategies to bring back sustainable tourism will soon become important. Social media (SM) can significantly support the promotion of destinations by guaranteeing an appropriate number and type of tourists. The article examines the frequency of using social media by different generations and the scope of their use in planning a tourist trip. The research was conducted in Poland on a sample of 397 respondents representing the group of Baby Boomers (BB), as well as Generations X, Y, and Z. The results of the research showed that the frequency of using SM decreases with age. The differences between the generations are visible in such behaviours as using SM to check opinions about tourist places, recommending a holiday with positive opinions and comments in SM, as well as resigning from a holiday based on negative opinions and comments.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of educational technology with examples of current applications performed by different educational institutions and identify the emerging technologies that are being exploited by this Generation Z of students in higher education institutions.
Abstract: The development of the “knowledge society” implies social transformation in which citizens need not only knowledge but also new skills and competencies, some unpredictable, to face new situations. Students of Generation Z are authentic digital natives who are a hyper cognitive generation with different student profiles than before. They are creating pressures for change, and there is a growing competition of universities for global human talent and demand for qualified graduates to do jobs that do not yet exist. Even the very development of technology, which is available to many, has motivated world-class universities to develop innovative programs and new ideas to accelerate and improve the teaching and learning process for knowledge and competencies. One of the most important actions to achieve this is the investment in technological resources to offer new ways of teaching and learning. Technology adds value to the teaching and learning experience, which students exploit widely to improve or accelerate the academic process, but technology can certainly also promote or develop additional skills and competencies. In this research, we present a review of educational technology with examples of current applications performed by different educational institutions. Also, students of Generation Z relationship and preferences regarding educational technologies are presented. Besides, emerging technologies that are being exploited by this Generation Z of students in Higher Education Institutions are identified and analyzed. This research presents the experiences of several successful and innovative cases regarding teaching students of Generation Z.

Esses desafios deverao mobilizar atencao e intervencao.
