A system, method, and device for use in videoconferencing. The method typically includes installing a videoconferencing services switch at an access point to an IP network, and registering a plurality of subscribers for videoconferencing services. Each subscriber typically has a plurality of endpoints. The method further includes receiving subscriber-specific settings to be applied to multiple videoconferencing calls from the plurality of endpoints associated with each subscriber. The method further includes storing the subscriber-specific settings at a location accessible to the switch, and configuring the switch to connect calls from the plurality of endpoints at each subscriber based on the corresponding subscriber-specific settings.

Multiple subscriber videoconferencing system

The present invention discloses a wireless remote device management system for wirelessly interfacing a plurality of remote devices (e.g., computers, servers, etc.) with one or more user workstations. Each remote device is coupled to a wireless transceiver. The user workstations may include a wireless user station coupled to a keyboard, a video monitor, and a cursor control device. Preferably the transceivers and wireless user stations use an 802.11 compatible network for communication. Additionally, a wireless access point may be utilized for centralized communications between the transceivers and user workstations. The present invention also enables the transceivers and wireless user workstations to communicate directly without the need for any additional hardware.

Wireless management system for control of remote devices

A method and apparatus for digitizing and compressing video signals for transmitting the signals between a remotely located computer and a host or local computer. The digitization and compression method and apparatus is capable of dividing frame buffers into cells and comparing image data from previously captured frame buffers to create synchronized video signals and transmit the video signals over an extended range by limiting the portions of the transmission bandwidth of pixel data transferred between the remote computer and the local computer. In an alternate embodiment of the present invention, a keyboard video mouse switch is disposed between the remotely located computer and the local computer.

Method and apparatus for digitizing and compressing remote video signals

Disclosed is a wireless remote network management system for interfacing a series of remote devices (e.g., computers, servers, networking equipment, etc.) to one or more user workstations. The system is multifunctional to allow multiple users to control remote devices through serial access or keyboard, video, and cursor control device access via wireless and hard-wired connections. The remote devices are preferably coupled to a wireless-enabled remote management unit through a chain of computer interface modules, and each user workstation includes a wireless user station coupled to a keyboard, a video monitor and a cursor control device. The remote management unit and user stations preferably communicate via a wireless network, which enables a user workstation to access, monitor and control any of the remote devices.

Wireless management of remote devices

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for transmitting video signals from a remote computer to a local computer over a network such as a LAN, WAN, the Internet, etc. The method receives and digitizes signals from the remote computer, conditions the signals, and compresses the signals for efficient transmission over the network connection. The method and apparatus also utilizes a cache of recently transmitted video to further decrease the data needed for transmission of the signals. The conditioning and caching use frame buffers of video signals that are divided into cells to reduce noise in the image, and to limit the portions of the video signals that must be transmitted. The present invention may be used in conjunction with a keyboard video mouse switch to enable a user at the local computer to select one of a number of remote devices for remote operation.

Method and apparatus for caching, compressing, and transmitting video signals

A process and interface for interconnection of multiprocessor modules by point-to-point serial-to-parallel links. Data processing or data communication modules (A and B) are interconnected by means of high-speed point-to-point serial links conveying multiplexed information organized into frames comprising a start-of-frame recognition pattern. The process, on transmission and on reception, performs an analog synchronization of the basic clocks of the modules to a reference clock generated by one of the modules designated as a reference module, called the master module, the other modules being called slave modules, and a digital synchronization of the start-of-frame of each slave module to the start-of-frame sent by the master module.

Interconnection process and interface using parallelized high-speed serial links

A videoconferencing center ( 31, 33 ) for data communications and teleprocessing is provided which comprises first routing switches having a plurality of sending ports ( 51, 53, 55, 57 ) and a plurality of receiving ports ( 50, 52, 54, 56 ), each sending port adapted to be operatively connected to a receiving data terminal equipment unit ( 10, 28, 29 ) or to a receiving port of second routing switch ( 32, 34 ), each receiving port adapted to be operatively connected to a sending data terminal equipment unit ( 10, 28, 29 ) or to a sending port of another group switching center ( 32, 34 ). Each receiving port is assigned a receiving stack ( 102 ) that is addressable in a single logical address space and each sending port is assigned a sending stack ( 103 ) for containing addresses of said single logical address space. The single logical address reduces the risk of losing data received, which risk results from the necessary limits on physical addresses of stacks. This group switching center is particularly useful for high-speed links of the type that may be required for a videoconferencing system.

Autonomous routing changeover device and video conference system using the same changeover device

The switching method involves the use of path switches (33) with several transmitter ports (53,55) and several receiver ports (56). Each receiver is connected to digital word processing terminal equipment (10,29). Each receiver port has an addressable unit, providing a unique logic address, and each transmitter also has an addressable unit. The unique logic address reduces the risk of losing the received digital data because of the increase in available addresses.
