Flinderoles A-C: Antimalarial Bis-indole Alkaloids from Flindersia Species
Liza Fernandez,Malcolm Stewart Buchanan,Anthony R. Carroll,Yunjiang Feng,Ronald J. Quinn,Vicky M. Avery +5 more
TL;DR: With the aim of finding new natural product antimalarials, the novel indole alkaloids flinderole A-C were found to have selective antimalarial activities with IC(50) values between 0.15-1.42 microM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Developing a drug-like natural product library.
Ronald J. Quinn,Anthony R. Carroll,Ngoc B. Pham,Paul Baron,Meredith Elizabeth Palframan,Lekha Suraweera,Gregory K. Pierens,Sorel Muresan +7 more
TL;DR: A natural product library (NPL) is generated in which 85% of the isolated compounds had no Lipinski violations and demonstrates the feasibility of obtaining natural products known for rich chemical diversity with the required physicochemical properties for drug discovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical aspects of mass spawning in corals. I: Sperm-attractant molecules in the eggs of the scleractinian coral Montipora digitata
John C. Coll,Bruce F. Bowden,George V. Meehan,Gabriele M. König,Anthony R. Carroll,Dianne M. Tapiolas,Porfirio M. Aliño,A. Heaton,R. de Nys,Priscila de Almeida Leone,M. Maida,T. L. Aceret,RH Willis,Russell C. Babcock,Bette L. Willis,Z. Florian,Margaret N. Clayton,R. L. Miller +17 more
TL;DR: This paper provides the first evidence for sperm chemotaxis in the Scleractinia, and preliminary experiments suggest that the natural mixture of Compounds 1, 2 and 3 in the ratio 1:4:9 is more effective in attracting sperm from M. digitata than sperm from other Montipora species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kuanoniamines A, B, C, and D: pentacyclic alkaloids from a tunicate and its prosobranch mollusk predator Chelynotus semperi
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the structure of the kuanoniamines A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dragmacidins: new protein phosphatase inhibitors from a southern australian deep-water marine sponge, spongosorites sp
Robert J. Capon,Francis Rooney,L. Murray,Elizabeth Collins,Alistair T. R. Sim,John A.P. Rostas,Mark S. Butler,Anthony R. Carroll +7 more
TL;DR: Collection of spongosorites collected during trawling operations off the southern coast of Australia returned the new alkaloid dragmacidin E (3), the structure of which was secured by detailed spectroscopic analysis.
