Journal ArticleDOI

A modular approach toward functionalized three-dimensional macromolecules: from synthetic concepts to practical applications.

TL;DR: A new strategy for the preparation of functional, multiarm star polymers via nitroxide-mediated "living" radical polymerization has been explored, which allows for the construction of nanoscopically defined materials from a wide range of different homo, block, and random copolymers combining both apolar and polar vinylic repeat units.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supramolecular polymers at work

TL;DR: The use of reversible, noncovalent interactions is a recurring design principle for responsive materials as discussed by the authors, and recently developed hydrogen-bonding units allow this design principle to be taken to its extreme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hierarchical formation of supramolecular transient networks in water : a modular injectable delivery system

TL;DR: A modular one-component supramolecular transient network in water, based on poly(ethylene glycol) and end-capped with four-fold hydrogen bonding units, is reported, which allows active proteins to be added to the hydrogel during formation and released once implanted in vivo.
