TL;DR: The preliminary findings of this study suggest that the higher CQ dosage should not be recommended for critically ill patients with COVID-19 because of its potential safety hazards, especially when taken concurrently with azithromycin and oseltamivir.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of antiretroviral therapy and isoniazid preventive therapy on tuberculosis incidence in HIV-infected patients in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Jonathan E. Golub,Valeria Saraceni,Solange Cavalcante,Antonio G. Pacheco,Lawrence H. Moulton,Bonnie S King,Anne Efron,Richard D. Moore,Richard E. Chaisson,Betina Durovni +9 more
TL;DR: The use of both IPT and ART in HIV-infected patients is associated with significantly reduced tuberculosis incidence, and in conjunction with expanded access to ART, the wider use of IPT in patients with HIV will improve tuberculosis control in high burden areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multilocus variable-number tandem repeat analysis distinguishes outbreak and sporadic Escherichia coli O157:H7 isolates
Anna C. Noller,M. Catherine McEllistrem,Antonio G. Pacheco,Antonio G. Pacheco,David Boxrud,Lee H. Harrison +5 more
TL;DR: In addition to being a simple and validated method for E. coli O157:H7 outbreak detection, MLVA appears to have a sensitivity equal to that of PFGE and a specificity superior to thatof PFGE.
Journal ArticleDOI
IFNG +874T/A, IL10 -1082G/A and TNF -308G/A polymorphisms in association with tuberculosis susceptibility: a meta-analysis study.
TL;DR: Though not significant, IL10 presented a trend towards protection when only studies with pulmonary TB patients were considered, which reinforces the critical importance of IFNG +874T/A as a genetic marker for TB resistance and this information can be used for better design of a TB vaccine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Beatriz Grinsztejn,Paula M. Luz,Antonio G. Pacheco,Desiree V. G. Santos,Luciane de Souza Velasque,Luciane de Souza Velasque,Ronaldo I. Moreira,Maria Regina C. Guimarães,Estevão Portela Nunes,Alberto dos Santos de Lemos,Sayonara R. Ribeiro,Dayse Pereira Campos,Marco Vitoria,Valdilea G. Veloso +13 more
