Journal ArticleDOI
Purification of metal electroplating waste waters using zeolites
TL;DR: This mineral showed the same high sorption capacity values when used in the purification of metal electroplating waste waters, appearing, therefore, as most suitable to perform metal waste water purification processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heavy metal adsorption by different minerals: application to the remediation of polluted soils
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the heavy metal adsorption capacity of various minerals in order to evaluate their potential for the reduction of metal mobility and bioavailability and their possible application for the remediation of polluted soils in the Guadiamar valley.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immobilization of heavy metals in polluted soils by the addition of zeolitic material synthesized from coal fly ash.
Xavier Querol,Andrés Alastuey,Natalia Moreno,E. Álvarez-Ayuso,Antonio García-Sánchez,Jordi Cama,Carles Ayora,Mariano Simón +7 more
TL;DR: The results show that the zeolitic material considerably decreases the leaching of Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, and Zn, and the sorption of metals in soil clay minerals (illite) proved to be the main cause contributing to the immobilization of these pollutants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationships between heavy metal concentrations in three different body fluids and male reproductive parameters: a pilot study
Jaime Mendiola,J.M. Moreno,Manuela Roca,Nuria Vergara-Juárez,María José Martínez-García,Antonio García-Sánchez,Belén Elvira-Rendueles,Stella Moreno-Grau,José J. López-Espín,J. Ten,Rafael Bernabeu,Alberto M. Torres-Cantero +11 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the presence of lead and cadmium in the reproductive tract of men may be related to a moderate alteration of their seminal parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorption of Cr(VI) from synthetic solutions and electroplating wastewaters on amorphous aluminium oxide
TL;DR: Adsorption was not affected by pH in acid medium, but decreased when pH sifted to alkaline values, and the presence of SO(4)(2-) greatly reduced Cr(VI) removal across the entire pH range when both solutes were present in similar concentrations.
