TL;DR: A closed wound suction apparatus comprises a housing, within which there is accommodated a microprocessor controlled battery powered suction pump, and a detachable drainage container arranged to be evacuated by the suction pumps so as to apply a suction pressure to a drainage tube embedded in a closed postoperative wound as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A closed wound suction apparatus comprises a housing, within which there is accommodated a microprocessor controlled battery powered suction pump, and a detachable drainage container arranged to be evacuated by the suction pump so as to apply a suction pressure to a drainage tube embedded in a closed postoperative wound. The suction pressure can be set by the surgeon and is monitored by a pressure sensor which reports to the pump control to determine operation of the pump in accordance with a predetermined set routine. Other controls that can be provided can monitor the volume of exudate in the container and/or the flow rate of exudate into the container. The container is preferably disposable and has self-sealing ports for connection to the vacuum pump and to the drainage tube.

TL;DR: In this paper, a wound therapy combination comprising a suction head and a surgical drape is presented, which consists of a planar flange portion and a tubular connector piece on a first face that communicates with an aperture extending to a second face.
Abstract: A wound therapy combination comprising a suction head and a surgical drape. The suction head comprises a planar flange portion and a tubular connector piece on a first face that communicates with an aperture extending to a second face. The second face is formed with projections that define flow channels for facilitating flow of liquids to the aperture.

TL;DR: In this article, a portable wound treatment apparatus for stimulating the healing of superficial wounds is described, which consists of a housing (210) containing a suction pump and a canister for containing fluids drawn from the wound.
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable wound treatment apparatus for stimulating the healing of superficial wounds. The apparatus comprises a housing (210) containing a suction pump and a canister for containing fluids drawn from the wound. The housing is supported on a harness or belt (216, 218) worn by the patient and is connected to a porous dressing at the wound site by a catheter.

TL;DR: In this article, a wound dressing member is provided for use in a vacuum bandage connected to a vacuum source, which includes a wound facing surface adapted to be in contact with and generally conform to the wound surface.
Abstract: A wound dressing member is provided for use in a vacuum bandage connected to a vacuum source. The wound dressing member is also provided for use with a wound having a wound surface. The wound dressing member includes a wound facing surface adapted to be in contact with and generally conform to the wound surface and a plurality of discrete holes formed in the wound facing surface. The member further includes a port configured to communicate with the vacuum source and with each hole formed in the wound facing surface. The wound dressing member further includes a stand-off having interconnected portions coupled to the wound facing surface and configured to provide a space between the wound facing surface and the wound surface.

TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for wound dressing and wound exudate recirculation is described, in which irrigant fluid from a reservoir connected to a conformable wound dressing is recirculated by a device for moving fluid through a flow path which passes through the dressing and a means for fluid cleansing and back to the dressing.
Abstract: An apparatus for cleansing wounds in which irrigant fluid from a reservoir connected to a conformable wound dressing and wound exudate from the dressing are recirculated by a device for moving fluid through a flow path which passes through the dressing and a means for fluid cleansing and back to the dressing. The cleansing means (which may be a single-phase, e.g. microfiltration, system or a two-phase, e.g. dialytic system) removes materials deleterious to wound healing, and the cleansed fluid, still containing materials that are beneficial in promoting wound healing, is returned to the wound bed. The dressing and a method of treatment using the apparatus.
