TL;DR: In this paper, a thermal decomposition of CaN6 and the evolution of its superconducting properties by low field (LFS) microwave absorption and conventional ESR was studied.
Abstract: Summary form only given. We have prepared C/sub ax/C/sub 60/ by thermal decomposition of CaN6 and studied the X-evolution of its superconducting properties by low field (LFS) microwave absorption and conventional ESR. Superconducting phase is found at x=5 and also x=6 (with lower fraction) with Tc = 8.4-8.8K. The results of the annealing at different temperature (300-450 /spl deg/C) and of aging effect on the intensity of LFS (and hence the amount of superconducting fraction) and ESR g-value and linewidths are presented. Preliminary results on the C/sub 13/ isotope effect on superconducting T/sub c/ in C/sub a5/C/sub 60/ are also discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the isotope effect on the superconducting transition temperature is reexamined in the model proposed by Chakravarty et al. where phonons modulate the electron-electron attraction energy on molecules.
Abstract: The isotope effect on the superconducting transition temperature is reexamined in the model proposed by Chakravarty et al. where phonons modulate the electron-electron attraction energy on ${\mathrm{C}}_{60}$ molecules. We find additional contributions to the effective interaction that increase the magnitude of the isotope shift. One of these contributions, which is nonadiabatic, has a stronger dependence on the intermolecular motion of electrons, which could result in an enhanced isotope effect in disordered samples.

TL;DR: In this paper, the microwave conductance measurements from 0.01 to 50 GHz were made on sheets of highly aligned carbon nanotubes with the alignment texture both parallel and perpendicular to the microwave electric field polarization.
Abstract: Multiwall carbon nanotube (MWNT) sheets are a class of nanomaterial-based multifunctional textile with potentially useful microwave properties. To understand better the microwave electrodynamics, complex AC conductance measurements from 0.01 to 50 GHz were made on sheets of highly aligned MWNTs with the alignment texture both parallel and perpendicular to the microwave electric field polarization. In both orientations, the AC conductance is modeled to first order by a parallel frequency-independent conductance and capacitance with no inductive contribution. This is consistent with low-frequency diffusive Drude AC conduction up to 50 GHz, in contrast to the “universal disorder” AC conduction reported in many types of single-wall nanotube materials.

TL;DR: Monocrystalline graphitic films are found to be a two-dimensional semimetal with a tiny overlap between valence and conductance bands and they exhibit a strong ambipolar electric field effect.
Abstract: We describe monocrystalline graphitic films, which are a few atoms thick but are nonetheless stable under ambient conditions, metallic, and of remarkably high quality. The films are found to be a two-dimensional semimetal with a tiny overlap between valence and conductance bands, and they exhibit a strong ambipolar electric field effect such that electrons and holes in concentrations up to 10 13 per square centimeter and with room-temperature mobilities of ∼10,000 square centimeters per volt-second can be induced by applying gate voltage.

TL;DR: Many potential applications have been proposed for carbon nanotubes, including conductive and high-strength composites; energy storage and energy conversion devices; sensors; field emission displays and radiation sources; hydrogen storage media; and nanometer-sized semiconductor devices, probes, and interconnects.
Abstract: Many potential applications have been proposed for carbon nanotubes, including conductive and high-strength composites; energy storage and energy conversion devices; sensors; field emission displays and radiation sources; hydrogen storage media; and nanometer-sized semiconductor devices, probes, and interconnects. Some of these applications are now realized in products. Others are demonstrated in early to advanced devices, and one, hydrogen storage, is clouded by controversy. Nanotube cost, polydispersity in nanotube type, and limitations in processing and assembly methods are important barriers for some applications of single-walled nanotubes.
