Genetic mechanisms of critical illness in Covid-19.

Erola Pairo-Castineira, +1449 more
- 04 Mar 2021 -
TL;DR: The GenOMICC (Genetics Of Mortality In Critical Care) genome-wide association study in 2244 critically ill Covid-19 patients from 208 UK intensive care units is reported, finding evidence in support of a causal link from low expression of IFNAR2, and high expression of TYK2, to life-threatening disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early farmers from across Europe directly descended from Neolithic Aegeans

TL;DR: This study demonstrates a direct genetic link between Mediterranean and Central European early farmers and those of Greece and Anatolia, extending the European Neolithic migratory chain all the way back to southwestern Asia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Whole-genome sequencing reveals host factors underlying critical COVID-19

TL;DR: The GenOMICC (Genetics of Mortality in Critical Care) study enables the comparison of genomes from individuals who are critically ill with those of population controls to find underlying disease mechanisms as mentioned in this paper .
Journal ArticleDOI

A Comparison of Models to Infer the Distribution of Fitness Effects of New Mutations

TL;DR: This work fitted several models for the DFE of amino acid-changing mutations using whole-genome polymorphism data from Drosophila melanogaster and the house mouse subspecies Mus musculus castaneus, finding a lognormal DFE best explains the data.
