Proportional ranking in primary elections: A case study

TL;DR: This paper compares different algorithmic methods for holding primaries by evaluating the degree of proportional ranking that is achieved by each of them using real-world data and suggests that other methods such as Sequential Proportional Approval or Phragmen can bring about better proportional ranking and thus may be better suited for primary elections in practice.

Digital straightness and convexity (Extended Abstract)

TL;DR: The definition of digital convexity of regions to digital solids is extended and efficient algorithms are presented that determine whether or not a digital region is convex, a digital arc is a digital straight line segment and a digital solid is conveX.
Book ChapterDOI

Object Detection in Infrared Images

TL;DR: Algorithm for detecting and classifying objects such as tanks and trucks in forward-looking infrared (FLIR) imagery and segmentation, feature extraction, and classification are described.
Book ChapterDOI

Chapter 9 – Matching

TL;DR: This chapter discusses the mapping of a three-dimensional scene into a two-dimensional picture from the standpoint of the coordinate transformations that are involved — translation, rotation, scale change, and reflection.
