Abstract: Complexes of the types M(HFCS)Cl-H2O [M = Co(II), Ni(II)], M(HFCS)2 [M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II)] and M(FCS)(H2O)2 [M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), H2FCS = N-(furan-2-carboxamido)salicylaldimine (OC4H3C[dbnd]O-NH-N[dbnd]CHC6H4OH)] have been synthesized. These complexes have been characterized employing elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic moment, electronic and IR spectral studies. The different modes of chelation of the ligand and the stereochemistry of the complexes are discussed.
