Emotional aspects of homepages are becoming more important as people spend more time in cyberspace. This research aims to identify quantitative relationships between key design factors and generic dimensions of secondary emotions so that we may develop homepages which target emotions more effectively. In order to achieve this goal, we conducted three related studies. In the first study, we identified 13 generic dimensions of secondary emotions that people usually feel when viewing diverse homepages. In the second study, we identified key design factors that professional designers frequently use in their attempts to develop emotionally evocative homepages. Finally, in the third study, we identified quantitative relationships between the key design factors and the 13 emotional dimensions. This paper describes these three studies and concludes with the implications and limitations of the study results.

In this paper a combined dimensional and discrete emotional approach is introduced for measuring emotions elicited by the visual appeal of websites. An online experiment was set out to measure the emotional experience of twelve screenshots of university websites. By indicating a position on the dimensions of pleasure and arousal, participants were asked to score corresponding emotion words that would relate to their position on the dimensions, plus random emotion words that were not related to their position. It was expected that scores on the corresponding emotion words would be higher than scores on the random emotion words. As expected, results showed that corresponding emotion words scored significantly higher, indicating that a combined dimensional and discrete emotion approach was feasible in measuring emotional experience elicited by visual appeal of websites.

Measuring the emotional impact of websites: a study on combining a dimensional and discrete emotion approach in measuring visual appeal of university websites

Recently, there have been dramatic and emerging innovations in portable media devices. This is evident, for example, with the Apple iPod, Microsoft Zune, Sony Walkman, and the Samsung and iriver media players. Because of this, how to best understand the users' intentions to adopt these fashionable technologies has become a new issue in the information technology domain. However, in the literature, little is published about what motivates people to adopt these innovative technologies. To address this issue, this research sought to come up with a model by integrating key variables from the role of ergonomic and social psychological facets on estimates of the fashion technology acceptance. Impact of Ergonomic and Social Psychological Perspective: A Case Study of Fashion Technology Adoption in Taiwan

Fashion industry have been emphasizing on eco-friendly business to enhance their public image. Due to the lack of consumers’ awareness and experience of eco fashion advertising, this have resulted in adverse outcomes. Therefore, it is required to develop eco fashion advertisement that meets the public interest of Koreans. This study aims to obtain practical implications which can be applied to further eco fashion advertising. The study examines the public opinion towards eco fashion using Twitter as big data analysis and the protracted implication was provided to consumers as consumer vocabulary to see the advertising effect of consumer vocabulary. In addition, this study focuses on the environmental claim types to identify the most effective advertisement in eco fashion. The results are as follow. Associative claim types had a more positive influence on advertising attitude than substantive claim types. Substantive claim types had a more positive influence on brand cognition than associative claim types. In addition, the moderating effects of consumer vocabulary on advertising attitude and brand cognition were supported in substantive claim types. Advertisement attitude shows positive effects to both brand cognition and brand attitude. It has been proved that brand cognition leads to positive influence towards brand attitude and brand attitude eventually increases consumers’ urge to buy products. This study has implication when providing a guideline for eco fashion advertisements.

The Effects of Environmental Claim Types and Consumer Vocabulary on Eco Fashion Advertisement

최근 감성연구의 한 측정 방법으로 의미변별 기법을 이용해 형용사를 제시하는 연구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 의미변별 기법을 사용하는 감성 연구의 기초적인 연구로서 우리말 형용사의 전체적인 의미구조를 분석해 보았다. 우리말 형용사의 의미구조는 기존의 다른 언어권에서 얻은 연구결과와 거의 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 전체 형용사의 의미구조는 다섯 요인으로 나타났으나, 기존 연구들과 마찬가지로 세 요인이 주요 요인으로 작용했다. 한편, 이러한 의미구조가 색채라는 특정 자극과 관련해서 나타나는 의미구조를 파악하기 위해 NCS단색과 형용사 쌍을 사용하여 측정하였다. 색채 이미지와 관련된 형용사의 의미구조도 세부적인 차이는 있으나, 첫 연구에서 발견된 결과와 크게 다르지 않았다. 감성의 표현수단으로서 어휘를 고려할 때, 이 결과는 사용하는 어휘가 다를지라도 기저에 있는 의미구조는 문화에 상관없이 보편적이라는 것을 제시한다. 다시 말해 어휘로 표현되는 감성의 기본구조가 공통적일 수 있음을 제시한다.
