TL;DR: The recovery of a deep ice core from Dome C, Antarctica, that provides a climate record for the past 740,000 years is reported, suggesting that without human intervention, a climate similar to the present one would extend well into the future.
Journal ArticleDOI
One-to-one coupling of glacial climate variability in Greenland and Antarctica.

TL;DR: In this paper, a glacial climate record derived from an ice core from Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, which represents South Atlantic climate at a resolution comparable with the Greenland ice core records was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dust-climate couplings over the past 800,000 years from the EPICA Dome C ice core
Fabrice Lambert,Barbara Delmonte,J. R. Petit,Matthias Bigler,Matthias Bigler,Patrik R Kaufmann,Patrik R Kaufmann,Manuel A. Hutterli,Thomas F. Stocker,Thomas F. Stocker,U. Ruth,Jørgen Peder Steffensen,Valter Maggi +12 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the observed ∼25-fold increase in glacial dust flux over all eight glacial periods can be attributed to a strengthening of South American dust sources, together with a longer lifetime for atmospheric dust particles in the upper troposphere resulting from a reduced hydrological cycle during the ice ages.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing the Epica and Vostok dust records during the last 220,000 years: stratigraphical correlation and provenance in glacial periods
Barbara Delmonte,Barbara Delmonte,Isabelle Basile-Doelsch,Jean-Robert Petit,Valter Maggi,M. Revel-Rolland,A. Michard,Emil Jagoutz,Francis E. Grousset +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the geographical origin of ice core dust (ICD) in cold periods has been investigated at both sites through 87Sr/86Sr versus 143Nd/144Nd isotopic tracers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glacial to Holocene implications of the new 27000-year dust record from the EPICA Dome C (East Antarctica) ice core
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured soluble dust concentrations and volume-size distributions for the new 581 m deep Dome C-EPICA ice core (Antarctica) to confirm evidence of a drastic decrease in bulk concentration from the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) to the Holocene (interglacial) by a factor of more than 50 in absolute value and of about 26 in flux.
