Abstract: The objective of this study is to determine the difference in the entrepreneurial behavior of companies based on the demographic characteristics of their manager or leader. To comply with the above, a quantitative, transversal, and non-experimental research study was carried out, which consisted in applying an instrument to 262 managers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in a northern city in Mexico. The collected information was analyzed in the software SPSS, version 26, with statistical testing by the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. The main findings show that these companies have differences in their entrepreneurial behavior based on the age and educational level of their managers, while gender and seniority at work are not differentiating elements in relation to the above. This research generates different possibilities of studies to be carried out in large companies from other sectors, and suggests the inclusion of behavioral characteristics as study variables.

TL;DR: For instance, the authors found that atributos como age, parentesco, and experience in areas funcionales, are important factors for choosing a sucesor.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Vezina interview and questionnaire (2011) and found that individualistic identity prevails in Mexican manufacturing SMEs and that they are more concerned about themselves and their own benefit than the people or community.
Abstract: Today SME´s are recognized as profitable and job generators. They contribute to the economy and some reach international markets. Although to succeed and to support themselves on the market, theorganizations must consider three key areas: strategy, organization identity and their own performance. This paper focuses on these three aspects in Mexican manufacturing SME´s. We used the Vezina interview and questionnaire (2011). The results state that individualistic identity prevails in these organizations. This implies they are more concerned about themselves and their own benefit than the people or community. In that sense, to satisfy their own needs and market demands, their strategy is prospective because they are risky and promote their own changes. They look to keep the leadership in markets. All of this is reflected in performance, employees and customers retained, but mostly in sales records.

Abstract: Strategies to Minimize Profit Loss From Small Business Enterprise Credit Rejections by Alfred Nwagbo CPA, Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Nigeria, 2004 MAHS, St. Edward’s University, 1988 BBA, Texas State University, 1983 Doctoral Study Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Business Administration Walden University October 2018 Abstract Institutional policies and the terms and conditions of credit allocation complicate the demand and supply of small business enterprise (SBE) credit, causing lost profits. Bank leaders are losing 28% of profitable projects because of the high rejection rate of credit applications for SBE loans. Bank leaders are losing 28% of profitable projects because of the high rejection rate of credit applications for SBE loans. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies Southeastern Nigerian state bank leaders use to minimize lost profit from SBE credit rejections. The conceptual framework that grounded this study was credit rationing focused on the lender–borrower relationship. Data collection involved reviews of company documents and face-to-face semistructured interviews of 6 participants from 3 banks in Southeastern Nigerian state. Based on the Schorr’s modified data analysis approach, 5 themes emerged (a) credit rationing depends on sufficient information, (b) business accounts statements are a fall back for credit availability, (c) character may be more important than collateral, (d) government policies are challenges to the formal banking system, (e) profits may be a hedge for high interest rates. Findings may be used to enhance the profitability of banks in the Southeastern Nigerian state. Implications for positive social change may include the support of community projects for individuals living at or below the poverty level in region. A profound gratitude to Alfred Jr., Princess K., Master Praise, Ugo, and Mommy Dear who contributed in various ways to nudge me forward. I am thankful for your support morally and individually throughout the doctoral journey. I dedicate this work specially to my grandchildren, Ashy and the others, for the smiles of innocence with symbolic rewards or intent that invigorated me. I give special thanks to my late parents for their sacrifice to make me the person I am today, and my late cousin “Dagogo.” Your departure was painfully too soon, but your expectation was both an encouragement and inspiration for fulfillment. Acknowledgments I want to thank my chairperson, Dr. Charles Robert Needham in a special way, for his extrinsic and intrinsic guidance, mentorship, patience, support, and motivation through this final process. In addition, my gratitude to my committee member, Dr. Peter Anthony for the one-on-one redirection toward success, and the university research reviewer, Dr. Deborah Nattress for the blessing of changes made during the study. The discharge of your different roles helped to sharpen my skills as a researcher and enabled me to develop a qualitative doctoral study. Further, I like to thank Dr. Susan Davis, program director, and Dr. Fred Walker, doctoral study administrator, for their pragmatic leadership in the Doctor of Business Administration program. Your excellent guidance has significantly contributed to my success.

TL;DR: In this article , a quantitative approach conducting a factor analysis, a two-step cluster, and decision tree analysis to interrogate data from 257 MSMEs in Mexico, provides evidence of different dimensions of strategic and structural flexibility that help to characterize and predict the growth, maturity, and declining stages of MSME.
Abstract: Abstract Today’s lifespan of companies tends to be low in the so-called micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Organizational life cycle (OLC) theory indicates that organizational aging is related, but not determined, by the firm chronological age or its size. Therefore, a firm’s aging should be analyzed by other factors such as flexibility. The literature considers flexibility as an essential capability, a source of competitive advantage, and an enabler of long-term growth for MSMEs. However, little attention in emerging economies has been paid to examine the nuances of this concept in relation to the OLC in this type of companies. Additionally, studies tend to analyze flexibility as a general term, ignoring that it is a polymorphic concept. That is why there is a need to research the different categories of flexibility. Drawing on a quantitative approach conducting a factor analysis, a two-step cluster, and decision tree analysis to interrogate data from 257 MSMEs in Mexico, this study provides evidence of different dimensions of strategic and structural flexibility that help to characterize and predict the growth, maturity, and declining stages of MSMEs. Our results show that mature firms present more strategic and structural flexible characteristics than those involved in growth or decline stages. The flexible factors that help classify and predict an MSME in the maturity stage include open communication, decentralized decision making, and formalization. We provide a model with these results to illuminate unaddressed issues regarding the broad term of flexibility and its relationship to OLC.

Abstract: Applying a life-span approach of human development and using the example of science-based business idea generation, the authors used structural equation modeling to test a mediation model for predicting entrepreneurial behavior in a sample of German scientists (2 measurement occasions; Time 1, N= 488). It was found that recalled early entrepreneurial competence in adolescence predicted business idea generation. This link was mediated by entrepreneurial human and social capital. Moreover, an entrepreneurial Big Five profile was associated with early entrepreneurial competence and predicted entrepreneurial human and social capital. Results underscore the relevance of the long-neglected developmental approach to entrepreneurship.
