Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of psychotic disorders and its association with methodological issues. A systematic review and meta-analyses.
TL;DR: This systematic review provides a comprehensive comparison of methodologies used in studies of the prevalence of psychosis, which can provide insightful information for future epidemiological studies in adopting the most relevant methodological approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations between unemployment and major depressive disorder: evidence from an international, prospective study (the predict cohort).
Barbara J. Jefferis,Irwin Nazareth,Louise Marston,Berta Moreno-Küstner,Juan Ángel Bellón,Igor Švab,Danica Rotar,Mirjam I. Geerlings,Miguel Xavier,Manuel Gonçalves-Pereira,Benjamín Vicente,Sandra Saldivia,Anu Aluoja,Ruth Kalda,Michael King +14 more
TL;DR: Evidence is found that causation and (to a lesser extent) health selection raise the prevalence of depression in the unemployed, and unemployed adults are at particular risk for onset of major clinical depression and should be offered extra services or screened.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prediction of depression in European general practice attendees: the PREDICT study
Michael King,Scott Weich,Francisco Torres-González,Igor Švab,Heidi Ingrid Maaroos,Jan Neeleman,Miguel Xavier,Richard W Morris,Carl Walker,Juan Angel Bellon-Saameno,Berta Moreno-Küstner,Danica Rotar,Janez Rifel,Anu Aluoja,Ruth Kalda,Mirjam I. Geerlings,Idalmiro Carraca,Manuel Caldas de Almeida,Benjamín Vicente,Sandra Saldivia,Pedro Rioseco,Irwin Nazareth +21 more
TL;DR: Response rate to follow-up in all countries was uniformly high, which suggests that prediction will be based on almost a full cohort, and results of the reliability analysis are encouraging and suggest that data collected during the course of PREDICT will have a satisfactory level of stability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Psychometric properties of the List of Threatening Experiences--LTE and its association with psychosocial factors and mental disorders according to different scoring methods.
Emma Motrico,Berta Moreno-Küstner,Juan de Dios Luna,Francisco Torres-González,Michael King,Irwin Nazareth,Carmen Montón-Franco,María Josefa Gilde Gómez-Barragán,Marta Sánchez-Celaya,Miguel Ángel Díaz-Barreiros,Catalina Vicens,Patricia Moreno-Peral,Juan Ángel Bellón +12 more
TL;DR: The List of Threatening Experiences questionnaire is a valid and reliable measure of stress in mental health, and the strength of association with mental disorders depends on the method of quantifying LTE scores.
Journal ArticleDOI
A systematic review and meta-analysis of the incidence of psychotic disorders: the distribution of rates and the influence of gender, urbanicity, immigration and socio-economic level.
TL;DR: IR among different psychotic disorders was found to vary depending on gender, urbanicity, and immigration (as most of the previous literature focuses on non-affective psychosis or schizophrenia).
