Thermal performance augmentation in latent heat storage unit using spiral fin: An experimental analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive experimental analysis is reported to evaluate the heat transfer augmentation in vertical shell and tube Latent Heat Storage Unit (LHSU) with installation of spiral fins Influence of spiral fin on charging and discharging rate is evaluated PCM and HTF used in the existing experimental test setup.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heat transfer intensification in horizontal shell and tube latent heat storage unit

TL;DR: In this paper, a latent heat storage unit (LHSU) utilizing phase change material (PCM) in a substantial scale is constrained by the poor thermal conductivity of PCMs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heat transfer enhancement using spiral fins in different orientations of Latent Heat Storage Unit

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive experimental analysis is reported to estimate the heat transfer enhancement in concentric tube type Latent Heat Storage Unit (LHSU) using spiral fins, where 45 temperature probes are installed in the annulus of concentric tubes for accurate measurement of temperature in radial, axial and angular direction.
Book ChapterDOI

Investigations on Thermal Performance of Spiral Finned Latent Heat Storage Unit

TL;DR: Sharma et al. as mentioned in this paper improved the heat transfer of shell-and tube-type latent heat storage unit (LHSU) using spiral fins, which reduced total melting time by 63.37% and 80.30% for horizontal and vertical LHSU, respectively.
