TL;DR: The model of the fuzzy control system was developed on the basis of computer simulation experiments done by the expert's analysis (pilot's knowledge) and the helicopter's mathematical model and its fuzzy flight control system were simulated using Matlab software package.
Abstract: This paper relates to a fuzzy flight control system in spot hovering for a single-rotor helicopter PZL Kania. The model of the fuzzy control system was developed on the basis of computer simulation experiments done by the expert's analysis (pilot's knowledge). The helicopter's mathematical model and its fuzzy flight control system were simulated using Matlab software package. In a series of numerous computer simulations the operation of the fuzzy control system was investigated and the system itself was tuned up. Simulation tests have been performed for the helicopter both in fixed hovering, and in hovering with disturbances. Disturbances were related to a gust of wind or to an accidental motion of one of the rudders. Obtained results give the good promise for building the Web simulator.

TL;DR: The author proposes dropping the band-limit assumption and shows that the out-of-band input signal has to be taken into account when designing a hybrid filter bank.
Abstract: The paper presents the problem of design and simulation of a high-speed wide-band high-resolution analog-to-digital (ADC) converter working in a bandpass scenario. Such converters play a crucial role in software-defined radio and in cognitive radio technology. One way to circumvent the limits of today's ADC technologies is to split the analog input signal into multiple components and then sample them with ADCs in parallel. The two main split approaches, time interleaved and frequency splitting, can be modeled using a filter bank paradigm, where each of these two architectures requires a specific analysis for its design. In this research, the frequency splitting approach was implemented with the use of a hybrid filter bank ADC, which requires an output digital filter bank perfectly matched to the input analog filter bank. To achieve this end, an analog transfer function, together with an assumption of strictly band-limited input signal, has been used to design the digital filter bank so far. In contrast, the author proposes dropping the band-limit assumption and shows that the out-of-band input signal has to be taken into account when designing a hybrid filter bank.

TL;DR: The mathematical model of quadrotor and its cascaded fuzzy controller were simulated using Matlab Simulink software and the square trajectory of Quadrotor flight was presented as a system test.
Abstract: In this paper the cascaded fuzzy controller system for quadrotor steering and stabilizing was deliberated. The mathematical model of quadrotor and its cascaded fuzzy controller were simulated using Matlab Simulink software. The fuzzy system was divided into three subsystems for controlling position and speed of the quadrotor and for steering rotation speed of propellers. In the article the square trajectory of quadrotor flight was presented as a system test.

TL;DR: In this paper, an estimation of the dehydration kinetics of monohydrated D -glucose with the use of the Bayesian spectral source separation algorithm is described, and the authors show that the proposed method may be used to estimate the evolution of concentration despite the overlapping peaks and multiple spectral sources in the observed spectra.
Abstract: An estimation of the dehydration kinetics of monohydrated D -glucose with the use of the Bayesian spectral source separation algorithm is described. The dehydration experiment was probed with the terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). Contrary to the widely used peak-area method, our approach to the quantitative analysis takes into account the full spectral information. The obtained concentration profiles at different temperatures were processed in order to measure the kinetics of the dehydration process. Our investigation shows that the proposed method may be used to estimate the evolution of concentration despite the overlapping peaks and multiple spectral sources in the observed spectra.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present several works for improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the terahertz (THz) wave signal.
Abstract: With the non-ionizing, non-invasive, high penetration, high resolution and spectral fingerprinting features of terahertz (THz) wave, THz spectroscopy has great potential for the qualitative and quantitative identification of key substances in biomedical field, such as the early diagnosis of cancer, the accurate boundary determination of pathological tissue and non-destructive detection of superficial tissue. However, biological samples usually contain various of substances (such as water, proteins, fat and fiber), resulting in the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for the absorption peaks of target substances are very small and then the target substances are hard to be identified. Here, we present recent works for the SNR improvement of THz signal. These works include the usage of attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy, the fabrication of sample-sensitive metamaterials, the utilization of different agents (including contrast agents, optical clearing agents and aptamers), the application of reconstruction algorithms and the optimization of THz spectroscopy system. These methods have been proven to be effective theoretically, but only few of them have been applied into actual usage. We also analyze the reasons and summarize the advantages and disadvantages of each method. At last, we present the prospective application of THz spectroscopy in biomedical field.

TL;DR: A comprehensive survey of research methodologies proposed for quadrotor control is provided, categorised into three different control design domains and each methodology is discussed in detail.
Abstract: Quadrotor a kind of multirotor unmanned air vehicle has gained popularity within research community due to its high manoeuvrability, vertical take-off, landing and hovering capability, and ease of operation in areas where traditional unmanned air vehicle have proved ineffective. This article provides a comprehensive survey of research methodologies proposed for quadrotor control. The methodologies are categorised into three different control design domains and each methodology is discussed in detail. Finally, we discuss the evaluation criteria used for the aforementioned methodologies and highlight the potential challenges that still need to be addressed in quadrotor control domain.

TL;DR: Results show that a quadrature phase shift keying modulation system is feasible in principle for communications over distances of several meters, using frequencies in the 200 to 400 kHz range.
Abstract: A study has been undertaken of ultrasonic communications methods in air, using a quadrature modulation method. Simulations were first performed to establish the likely performance of quadrature phase shift keying over the limited bandwidth available in an ultrasonic system. Quadrature phase shift keying modulation was then implemented within an experimental communication system, using capacitive ultrasonic sources and receivers. The results show that such a system is feasible in principle for communications over distances of several meters, using frequencies in the 200 to 400 kHz range.

TL;DR: An approach which enables a low-cost quadrocopter to fly various trajectories autonomously along a predefined path without the need for any additional external sensors is presented.
Abstract: In this paper, we present an approach which enables a low-cost quadrocopter to fly various trajectories autonomously. Artificial landmarks are used for pose estimation, and a fuzzy controller is utilized to generate steering commands. The presented system can navigate a low-cost quadrocopter along a predefined path without the need for any additional external sensors. In addition to a full description of our system, we also introduce our software package for Robot Operating System, which allows the robotics community to experiment with proposed mapping algorithm.
