Lipid composition of Halobacterium lacusprofundi

TL;DR: Investigation of the recently described aerobic, extremely halophilic archaeobaterium, Halobacterium lacusprofundi showed that the major respiratory lipoquinones present were MK-8 and MK- 8(VIII-H2), a feature found in other members of the family Halobacteriaiaceae.
Journal ArticleDOI

Notes on the characterization of prokaryote strains for taxonomic purposes.

TL;DR: The purpose of the present article is to outline the key elements in the way that prokaryotes are characterized, with a view to providing an overview of some of the pitfalls commonly encountered in taxonomic papers.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparative study of the lipid composition of Halobacterium saccharovorum from various sources

TL;DR: In order to clarify the position of H. saccharovorum within the family Halobacteriaceae a chemotaxonomic study of this species was undertaken using strains obtained from five different sources, and shows that one of the strains is anomalous and should not be included in the species.
Book ChapterDOI

Phenotypic Characterization and the Principles of Comparative Systematics

TL;DR: The methods described in this chapter are based primarily on methods developed for the characterization and identification of organisms which have usually been isolated on nutrient-rich media.
Journal ArticleDOI

International code of nomenclature of prokaryotes

TL;DR: This volume contains the edition of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes that was presented in draft form and available for comment at the Plenary Session of the Fourteenth International Congress of Bacteriology and Applied Microbiology, Montréal, 2014, together with updated lists of conserved and rejected bacterial names and of Opinions issued by the Judicial Commission.
