Monitoring the price and affordability of foods and diets globally
Andy Lee,Cliona Ni Mhurchu,Gary Sacks,Boyd Swinburn,Boyd Swinburn,Wendy Snowdon,Wendy Snowdon,Stefanie Vandevijvere,Corinna Hawkes,Mary R. L’Abbé,Mike Rayner,David Sanders,Simon Barquera,Sharon Friel,Bridget Kelly,Shiriki K. Kumanyika,Tim Lobstein,J. Ma,J. Macmullan,Sailesh Mohan,Carlos Augusto Monteiro,Bruce Neal,Chris Walker +22 more
TL;DR: The monitoring of the price and affordability of ‘healthy’ and ‘less healthy’ foods and diets globally will provide robust data and benchmarks to inform economic and fiscal policy responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
An international randomised placebo-controlled trial of a four-component combination pill ("polypill") in people with raised cardiovascular risk.
Anthony Rodgers,Anushka Patel,Otavio Berwanger,M. L. Bots,Richard H. Grimm,D. E. Grobbee,Rod Jackson,Bruce Neal,James D. Neaton,Neil R Poulter,Natasha Rafter,P. K. Raju,Srinath Reddy,Simon Thom,S. Vander Hoorn,Ruth Webster +15 more
TL;DR: This polypill achieved sizeable reductions in SBP and LDL-cholesterol but caused side effects in about 1 in 6 people, the halving in predicted cardiovascular risk is moderately lower than previous estimates and the side effect rate is moderately higher.
Journal ArticleDOI
A pragmatic randomized trial of a polypill-based strategy to improve use of indicated preventive treatments in people at high cardiovascular disease risk
Anushka Patel,Alan Cass,David Peiris,Tim Usherwood,Alex Brown,Stephen Jan,Bruce Neal,Graham S. Hillis,Natasha Rafter,Andrew Tonkin,Ruth Webster,Laurent Billot,Severine Bompoint,Carol Burch,Hugh Burke,Noel Hayman,Barbara Molanus,Christopher M. Reid,Louise Shiel,Samantha J. Togni,Anthony Rodgers +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors aimed to determine whether fixed dose combinations of generic drugs can achieve optimal preventive drugs for individuals at high risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk worldwide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of fibrates in kidney disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Min Jun,Bin Zhu,Marcello Tonelli,Meg Jardine,Anushka Patel,Bruce Neal,Thaminda Liyanage,Anthony C Keech,Alan Cass,Vlado Perkovic +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that fibrates have a place in reducing cardiovascular risk in people with mild-to-moderate CKD and reduce albuminuria and reversibly increase serum creatinine but the effects on major kidney outcomes remain unknown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rethinking the dose-response relationship between usage and outcome in an online intervention for depression: randomized controlled trial.
Liesje Donkin,Ian B. Hickie,Helen Christensen,Sharon L. Naismith,Bruce Neal,Nicole Cockayne,Nick Glozier +6 more
TL;DR: Only one objective measure of usage was independently associated with better outcome of a Web-based intervention of known effectiveness, and medium level users appeared to have little additional benefit compared to low users indicating that assumptions of a linear relationship between use and outcome may be too simplistic.
