Journal ArticleDOI
Diverse Characteristics of the cagA Gene of Helicobacter pylori Strains Collected from Patients from Southern Vietnam with Gastric Cancer and Peptic Ulcer
Bui Xuan Truong,Vo Thi Chi Mai,Hiroshi Tanaka,Le Thanh Ly,Tran Minh Thong,Hoang Hoa Hai,Dao Van Long,Keisuke Furumatsu,Masaru Yoshida,Hiromu Kutsumi,Takeshi Azuma +10 more
TL;DR: From evidence of East Asian CagA and epidemiologic cancerous lesions in Vietnam, H. pylori-infected Vietnamese can be classified into a high-risk group for gastric cancer, but further studies on the interaction among environmental and virulence factors should be done.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term follow-up of Japanese patients with chronic hepatitis B treated with interferon-α
Bui Xuan Truong,Yasushi Seo,Miyuki Kato,Kenichi Hamano,Toshiaki Ninomiya,Megumi Katayama,Hirotaka Kato,Yoshihiko Yano,Yoshitake Hayashi,Masato Kasuga +9 more
TL;DR: It was showed that no benefit of IFN-alpha treatment was detectable during long-term follow-up in Japanese patients with chronic hepatitis B.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular epidemiological study of hepatitis B virus infection in two different ethnic populations from the Solomon Islands
Takako Utsumi,Yoshihiko Yano,Bui Xuan Truong,Yasuhito Tanaka,Masashi Mizokami,Yasushi Seo,Masato Kasuga,Masato Kawabata,Yoshitake Hayashi +8 more
TL;DR: HBV infection in the Solomon Islands is hyperendemic, and the genotype is ethnicity‐specific, and HBeAg appears to clear from the serum in young adulthood in HBV/D infection, which may be influenced by genotype‐dependent features in relation to viral mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variations in the core promoter/pre-core region in HBV genotype C in Japanese and Northern Vietnamese patients.
Bui Xuan Truong,Yoshihiko Yano,Yasushi Seo,Tran Minh Phuong,Yasuhito Tanaka,Hirotaka Kato,Akira Miki,Takako Utsumi,Takeshi Azuma,Nguyen Khanh Trach,Masashi Mizokami,Yoshitake Hayashi,Masato Kasuga +12 more
TL;DR: The subgenotypes and unique mutations of HBV genotype C in the Vietnamese and Japanese differed, and C/A1753 and C1858 variants might play a role in the pathogenesis of liver disease in Vietnamese patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotype and variations in core promoter and pre-core regions are related to progression of disease in HBV-infected patients from Northern Vietnam.
Bui Xuan Truong,Yasushi Seo,Yoshihiko Yano,Pham Thi Thu Ho,Tran Minh Phuong,Dao Van Long,Nguyen Truong Son,Nguyen Cong Long,Hirotaka Kato,Yoshitake Hayashi,Nguyen Khanh Trach,Masato Kasuga +11 more
TL;DR: In Northern Vietnamese, HBV genotypes B and C were prevalent and mutations in the core promoter region were associated with progressive, severe liver diseases.
