TL;DR: Camera gimbal control is designed which controls the on board camera position used in UAV for various applications such as target tracking, Surveillance, Aerial photography, autonomous navigation and so on.
Abstract: In this paper, camera gimbal control is designed which controls the on board camera position used in UAV for various applications such as target tracking, Surveillance, Aerial photography, autonomous navigation and so on. Traditional tracking systems are heavy and large to mount on small airframes. Gimbal with camera replaces traditional tracking systems and used to capture aerial photography without video noise and vibrations. So, the gimbal trajectory planning and its motion control are necessary. The controlling of camera gimbal is designed using different controlling techniques which respond quickly without excitation of damping flexibility. In order to develop the control, kinematics is derived using different robotics techniques. In this paper PID controller is designed to control camera position using gimbal mechanism. PID control is the popular controller used in industries for its effectiveness, simplicity of design and its feasibility. PID consists of three tuning parameters which can be tuned using different techniques. Manual tuning is not preferred since it is time consuming, tedious and leads to poor performance. Here, traditional tuning methods and evolutionary algorithms/bio-inspired algorithms are used to tune PID parameters. PSO is the evolutionary algorithm used because of its stable convergence, dynamic and static performance, good computational efficiency due to which system performance with minimum errors can be achieved. In this paper, performance of system with conventional PID and PSO tuned PID are compared and optimum solution is implemented

TL;DR: This paper presents the avionics architecture of a 14-seat Light Transport Aircraft (LTA) for general aviation, which has multi-role commuter capabilities, and details about the extensive tests carried out to prove theAvionics design in terms of functionality, inter-operability, interference, and compatibility.
Abstract: The avionics of current-day aircraft is termed as modular integrated full glass cockpit. Unlike lots of dials and gauges, the pilot will interact with Multi-Function Displays (MYD). This means that the systems are coupled with multi-function displays, communication and navigation radios with control units, multi-mode interactive instruments for control and navigation, recording and fault management systems, airframes and health monitoring diagnostic capabilities. Pilot Vehicle Interface (PVI) is an important measure of good avionics and cockpit layout, which implies the optimization of man-machine interface, enhancement of the economy, and safety of flight operations. This presents the avionics architecture of a 14-seat Light Transport Aircraft (LTA) for general aviation, which has multi-role commuter capabilities. LTA is a twin turbo-prop, multi-role aircraft, with air taxi and commuter services as its primary roles. The avionics is built on the digital communication mode for both command and control with current requirements of TCAS, digital Autopilot, and AMLCD multi-purpose glass displays. The LTA Avionics suite is grouped into six major groups based on functionality: Display System, Communication System, Navigation System, Recording System, Radar System, and Engine instruments and other cockpit displays. This paper also covers details about the extensive tests carried out to prove the avionics design in terms of functionality, inter-operability, interference, and compatibility. Various practical integration and flight-test issues, methodologies, and details of the scenarios is presented herein.

TL;DR: This paper suggests the improvement of security in Micro Aerial Vehicle communication protocol for the communication between the Ground Control Station (GCS) and the MAV by the implementation of the Caesar Cipher method of data encryption with a secured key.
Abstract: This paper suggests the improvement of security in Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) communication protocol for the communication between the Ground Control Station (GCS) and the MAV. Proposed method involves the implementation of the Caesar Cipher method of data encryption with a secured key. The method of Ciphering is used for authentication of the Micro Aerial Vehicle at the beginning of the communication. Later the same is used for critical command, control and parameter messages at varied frequencies. This results in improvement of security and reliability of the system in defense and other high security applications.

TL;DR: An efficient and energy-saving distributed network architecture based on clustering stratification to solve the information security problem of unmanned aerial vehicle ad hoc network communication is proposed and a double-authentication watermarking strategy is designed.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose an efficient and energy-saving distributed network architecture based on clustering stratification to solve the information security problem of unmanned aerial vehicle ad hoc network communication. And a double-authentication watermarking strategy is designed. In order to ensure that the data collected by nodes can be sent securely to the cluster head node, we use the self-characteristic of the collected data to generate the authentication watermark and insert it into the collected data at random. The cluster head node first verifies the integrity of collected data and deletes the suspicious data. Then, the authentication information is generated by combining the chaotic mapping method, and the watermark is hidden by changing the parity of the least significant bits of the data. Experimental results show that the proposed security strategy can resist most attacks, such as selective forwarding, data replay and tampering. Meanwhile, it has low energy consumption and low latency.

TL;DR: There is a need for further research in methods that allow for fault detection and recovery techniques to be easily realized and implemented with minimal risk of software errors.
Abstract: Ubiquitous sensing is pervasive in society for such applications as biometrics for health care, smart grids for power delivery, and avionics for transportation safety [1]. As society continues to rely ever more on sensors for various applications, there is a need to address the accuracy of sensor readings for health maintenance, signal identification, and control [2]. While there have been advances in information fusion [3] for avionics control [4] and user warnings [5], there is still a need for further research in methods that allow for fault detection and recovery techniques to be easily realized and implemented with minimal risk of software errors.
