Ianna +52 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the discovery of transient optical emission in the error box of the gamma-ray burst GRB980425, the light curve of which was very different from that of previous optical afterglows associated with Gamma-ray bursts.
Journal ArticleDOI
The decay of optical emission from the γ-ray burst GRB970228
Titus Galama,Paul J. Groot,J. van Paradijs,J. van Paradijs,Chryssa Kouveliotou,Chryssa Kouveliotou,C. R. Robinson,C. R. Robinson,Gerald J. Fishman,Charles A. Meegan,Kailash C. Sahu,Mario Livio,Larry Petro,F. D. Macchetto,John Heise,J. J. M. in 't Zand,Richard G. Strom,J. Telting,R. G. M. Rutten,Max Pettini,Nial R. Tanvir,Joshua S. Bloom +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors re-evaluate the existing photometry of the optical counterpart of GRB970228 to construct an optical light curve for the transient event and find that between 21 hours and six days after the burst, the R-band brightness decreased by a factor of approx. 50, with any subsequent decrease in brightness occurring at a much slower rate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of Correlated Behavior Between the HXR and the Radio Bands in Cygnus X-3
Michael L. McCollough,C. R. Robinson,S. N. Zhang,B. A. Harmon,Robert M. Hjellming,E. B. Waltman,R. S. Foster,Frank D. Ghigo,Michael S. Briggs,Geoffrey N. Pendleton,K. J. Johnston +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a long-term study of the unusual X-ray binary Cyg X-3 was performed and the discovery of a remarkable relationship between these two wavelength bands was made.
Journal ArticleDOI
The X-Ray, optical, and infrared counterpart to GRB 980703
P. M. Vreeswijk,Titus Galama,Alan Owens,T. Oosterbroek,Thomas R. Geballe,J. van Paradijs,J. van Paradijs,Paul J. Groot,Chryssa Kouveliotou,Chryssa Kouveliotou,Thomas M. Koshut,Thomas M. Chaty,Ian Smail,Andrew Blain,J. H. Hough,S. Young,Nicholas B. Suntzeff +43 more
TL;DR: In this article, a previously unknown X-ray source was detected in the GRB error box, assuming a power-law decline, and the decay index α 1.50 ± 0.11.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the optical counterpart to GRB 980326 was discovered and its rapid optical decay was characterized by a power law with exponent - 2.10+/-0.13 and a constant underlying source at R{c}}=25.5.
