Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the distribution and abundance of Culicoides imicola and the Obsoletus Complex in Italy
TL;DR: The results indicate adult populations of C. imicola to occur in more sparsely vegetated habitats that are exposed to full sunlight, whereas species of the Obsoletus Complex favour a more shaded habitat, with increased green leaf density.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatio-Temporal Identification of Areas Suitable for West Nile Disease in the Mediterranean Basin and Central Europe.
Annamaria Conte,Luca Candeloro,Carla Ippoliti,Federica Monaco,Fabrizio De Massis,R. Bruno,Daria Di Sabatino,Maria Luisa Danzetta,Abdennasser Benjelloun,Bouchra Belkadi,Mehdi El Harrak,Silvia Declich,Caterina Rizzo,Salah Hammami,Thameur Ben Hassine,Paolo Calistri,Giovanni Savini +16 more
TL;DR: Using the Mahalanobis Distance statistic, areas ecologically most suitable for sustaining WNV transmission were identified in the Mediterranean basin and Central Europe and seasons of mosquito population has been modelled and included in the analyses to produce monthly maps of suitable areas for West Nile Disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
A geographical information system-based multicriteria evaluation to map areas at risk for Rift Valley fever vector-borne transmission in Italy.
Annelise Tran,Carla Ippoliti,Thomas Balenghien,Annamaria Conte,Marie Gély,Paolo Calistri,Maria Goffredo,Thierry Baldet,Véronique Chevalier +8 more
TL;DR: The geographical information system (GIS)-based MCE served as a valuable framework and a flexible tool for mapping the areas at risk of a pathogen that is currently absent from a region.
Journal ArticleDOI
