mTOR inhibition modulates epileptogenesis, seizures and depressive behavior in a genetic rat model of absence epilepsy
Emilio Russo,Rita Citraro,Giuseppe Donato,Caterina Camastra,Rodolfo Iuliano,Salvatore Cuzzocrea,Andrew Constanti,Giovambattista De Sarro +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) on the development of absence seizures and seizure parameters as well as depressive-like behavior in WAG/Rij rats, a genetic model of absence epilepsy, epileptogenesis and mild-depression comorbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI
New evidence for a critical role of elastin in calcification of native heart valves: immunohistochemical and ultrastructural study with literature review
Ida Perrotta,Emilio Russo,Caterina Camastra,Gemma Filice,Giulio Di Mizio,Federica Colosimo,Pietrantonio Ricci,Sandro Tripepi,Andrea Amorosi,Franco Triumbari,Giuseppe Donato +10 more
TL;DR: Perrotta I, Russo E, Camastra C, Filice G, Di Mizio G, Colosimo F, Ricci P, Tripepi S, Amorosi A, Triumbari F & Donato G’(2011) Histopathology59, 504–513.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aurora Kinase A expression predicts platinum-resistance and adverse outcome in high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma patients
Chiara Mignogna,Nicoletta Staropoli,Cirino Botta,Carmela De Marco,Antonia Rizzuto,Michele Morelli,Annalisa Di Cello,Renato Franco,Caterina Camastra,Ivan Presta,Natalia Malara,Angela Salvino,Pierfrancesco Tassone,Pierosandro Tagliaferri,Tullio Barni,Giuseppe Donato,Anna Di Vito +16 more
TL;DR: In the era of personalized medicine, AURKA could assist the clinicians in selecting the best treatment and represent, at the same time, a promising new therapeutic target in EOC treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hindlimb Ischemia Impairs Endothelial Recovery and Increases Neointimal Proliferation in the Carotid Artery
Sabato Sorrentino,Claudio Iaconetti,Salvatore De Rosa,Alberto Polimeni,Jolanda Sabatino,Clarice Gareri,Francesco Passafaro,Teresa Mancuso,Laura Tammè,Chiara Mignogna,Caterina Camastra,Giovanni Esposito,Antonio Curcio,Daniele Torella,Ciro Indolfi +14 more
TL;DR: Hindlimb ischemia affects negative carotid remodeling increasing neointima formation after injury, while systemic antagonizzation of miR-16 is able to prevent these negative effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective activity of α-lactoalbumin (ALAC), a whey protein rich in tryptophan, in rodent models of epileptogenesis
Emilio Russo,Francesca Scicchitano,Rita Citraro,Rossana Aiello,Caterina Camastra,P. Mainardi,Serafina Chimirri,Emilio Perucca,Giuseppe Donato,G. De Sarro +9 more
TL;DR: ALAC showed protecting properties in both models of epileptogenesis, reducing spontaneous seizures development and antiseizure properties at some of the doses tested, and its effects are likely mediated by the inhibition of NMDA receptors at the glycine binding site.
