Journal ArticleDOI
BMI in relation to sperm count: an updated systematic review and collaborative meta-analysis
Nathalie Sermondade,Céline Faure,Léopold Fezeu,A G Shayeb,Jens Peter Bonde,Tina Kold Jensen,M. van Wely,Jan Tan Cao,A. C. Martini,M Eskandar,Jorge E. Chavarro,Jorge E. Chavarro,S Koloszar,John M. Twigt,Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen,Edson Borges,Francesco Lotti,Régine P.M. Steegers-Theunissen,B Zorn,Alex J. Polotsky,S. La Vignera,Brenda Eskenazi,Kelton Tremellen,E V Magnusdottir,I Fejes,Serge Hercberg,Rachel Levy,Sébastien Czernichow +27 more
TL;DR: Overweight and obesity were associated with an increased prevalence of azoospermia or oligozoospermia, and whether weight normalization could improve sperm parameters should be evaluated further.
Journal ArticleDOI
Motor development following in utero exposure to organochlorines: a follow-up study of children aged 5–9 years in Greenland, Ukraine and Poland
Birgit Bjerre Høyer,Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen,Henning S. Pedersen,Katarzyna Góralczyk,Lyubov Chumak,Bo A. G. Jönsson,Jens Peter Bonde,Gunnar Toft +7 more
TL;DR: In utero exposure to CB-153 and p,p′-DDE was not associated with parentally retrospectively assessed developmental milestones in infancy or parentally assessed motor skills at young school age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does weight loss improve semen quality and reproductive hormones? results from a cohort of severely obese men
Linn Berger Håkonsen,Ane Marie Thulstrup,Anette Skærbech Aggerholm,Jørn Olsen,Jens Peter Bonde,Claus Yding Andersen,Mona Bungum,Emil Hagen Ernst,Emil Hagen Ernst,Mette Lausten Hansen,Erik Ernst,Erik Ernst,Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen,Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen +13 more
TL;DR: This study found obesity to be associated with poor semen quality and altered reproductive hormonal profile and weight loss may potentially lead to improvement in semen quality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is overweight a risk factor for reduced semen quality and altered serum sex hormone profile
Anette Skærbech Aggerholm,Ane Marie Thulstrup,Gunnar Toft,Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen,Jens Peter Bonde +4 more
TL;DR: Findings corroborate earlier findings that overweight and obese men have a markedly changed sex hormone profile in serum, whereas reduction of semen quality, if any, was marginal and below the detection limit of this large study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is smoking a risk factor for decreased semen quality? A cross-sectional analysis
Cecilia Høst Ramlau-Hansen,Ane Marie Thulstrup,Anette Skærbech Aggerholm,Morten Søndergaard Jensen,Gunnar Toft,Jens Peter Bonde +5 more
TL;DR: It would be sensible to advise men to abstain from smoking to avoid decreased fecundity, and a positive dose-response relationship between smoking and testosterone, LH and the LH/free testosterone ratios is found.
