Effect of electron shallow trap on breakdown performance of transformer oil-based nanofluids

TL;DR: In this article, it was found that electron shallow trap density and charge decay rate are greatly increased in nanofluids, i.e., fast electrons may be converted to slow electrons by electron trapping and de-trapping in shallow traps of nanoflids, resulting in improved breakdown performance compared to that of pure transformer oils.
Journal ArticleDOI

Partial discharge location in power transformers using wideband RF detection

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for partial discharge (PD) source location in power transformers based on detecting electromagnetic (EM) radiation emitted from PD is presented. But the problem of partial discharge location by EM waves is the difficulty in getting the accurate time arrivals of the signals from the source to multiple sensors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of temperature on surface charges accumulation on insulators in SF6-filled DC-GIL

TL;DR: In this article, the heat transfer surface charge accumulation model of operating DC-GIL was developed, including the nonlinear relationship between volume current in gas and electric field, and the space charge was also considered in the model.
Journal ArticleDOI

High sensitive and reliable fiber Bragg grating hydrogen sensor for fault detection of power transformer

TL;DR: In this article, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor was proposed for detecting hydrogen in transformer oil, and polyimide was added in the adhesive layer to solve the problem that the palladium layer peels off from the FBG when exposed to a high concentration of hydrogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distributed Partial Discharge Detection in a Power Transformer Based on Phase-Shifted FBG

TL;DR: In this article, a distributed power transformer partial discharge detection system based on phase-shifted fiber Bragg gratings (PS-FBG) is proposed, which can be installed inside the power transformer, which takes the advantage of the optical fiber status as an insulator.
