Sparse whole-genome sequencing identifies two loci for major depressive disorder

Na Cai, +108 more
- 30 Jul 2015 -
TL;DR: Using low-coverage whole-genome sequencing of 5,303 Chinese women with recurrent MDD selected to reduce phenotypic heterogeneity, and 5,337 controls screened to exclude MDD, two loci contributing to risk of MDD on chromosome 10 are identified: one near the SIRT1 gene and the other in an intron of the LHPP gene.
Journal ArticleDOI

Population-based and family-based association studies of ZNF804A locus and schizophrenia

TL;DR: These established iPSC lines from schizophrenia patients with a defined DISC1 mutation will provide a useful resource for investigating the function of DISC 1 in human neurodevelopment and serve as an entry point to clarify the molecular and cellular pathogenesis of schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Targeting of NMDA Receptors in the Treatment of Major Depression

TL;DR: Recent findings concerning the role of glutamatergic signaling in the neurobiology of MDD and potential, novel therapeutic drugs, such as ketamine, memantine, AZD6765, traxoprodil, MK-0657, GLYX-13, NRX-1047, D-cycloserine, sarcosine, all of which target this system are reviewed.
