Stable isotopic characteristic of Taiwan's precipitation: A case study of western Pacific monsoon region
Tsung-Ren Peng,Chung-Ho Wang,Chi-Chao Huang,Li-Yuan Fei,Chen-Tung Arthur Chen,Jeen-Lian Hwong +5 more
TL;DR: The stable oxygen and hydrogen isotopic features of precipitation in Taiwan, an island located at the western Pacific monsoon area, are presented from nearly 3,500 samples collected during the past decade for 20 stations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using oxygen, hydrogen, and tritium isotopes to assess pond water's contribution to groundwater and local precipitation in the pediment tableland areas of northwestern Taiwan
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the contribution of copious ponds distributed throughout the Taoyuan-Chungli Tableland (TCT) in northwestern Taiwan and found that both precipitation and pond water are the end sources of proximal shallow groundwater in the TCT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical Solutions for Groundwater Flow in Unsaturated Layered Soil with Extreme Physical Property Contrasts
TL;DR: In this paper, the numerical solutions for groundwater flow in unsaturated layered soil using the Richards equation are presented, and a novel method, named the dynamical Jacobian-inverse free method, incorporated with a two-side equilibration algorithm for solving illconditioned systems with extreme contrasts in hydraulic conductivity is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transient modeling of regional rainfall-triggered shallow landslides
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the transient modeling of regional rainfall-triggered shallow landslides in unsaturated soil using the Richards equation and developed a new procedure to set up wide-range shallow landslide analysis and to integrate regional distribution variations for input data such as geology, groundwater level, hydrogeological characteristics, and rainfall intensity and duration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical modeling of unsaturated layered soil for rainfall-induced shallow landslides
TL;DR: In this paper, a pioneer study on numerical modeling of rainfall-induced shallow landslides in unsaturated layered soil using the variably saturated flow equation is presented, where the infinite slope stability analysis coupled with the hydrological model with the consideration of the fluctuation of time-dependent pore water pressure and Gardner equation for soil water characteristic curve was developed.
