A review of ZnO nanoparticles as solar photocatalysts: Synthesis, mechanisms and applications
TL;DR: In this paper, the photo-degradation mechanisms of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and the recent progress in ZnO nanostructured fabrication methods including doping, heterojunction and modification techniques as well as improvements of ZnOs as a photocatalyst are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solar photocatalytic degradation of hazardous Congo red using low-temperature synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles
TL;DR: In this article, a simple sol-gel method at low temperature was used to prepare zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles, which were characterized with different techniques such as X-ray-diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectrometry and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM).
Journal ArticleDOI
Solar photocatalytic and surface enhancement of ZnO/rGO nanocomposite: Degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid and dye
Chin Boon Ong,Abdul Wahab Mohammad,Law Yong Ng,Ebrahim Mahmoudi,Sepehr Azizkhani,Nur Hanis Hayati Hairom +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a low temperature sol-gel method was used to synthesize ZnO/rGO nanocomposites (NCs) for degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid and methyl orange in aqueous solution under solar irradiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
A review of the management of inflow water, wastewater and water reuse by membrane technology for a sustainable production in shrimp farming
TL;DR: The objective of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of setting up an integrated recirculating aquaculture system using the membrane technology, which possibly utilizes microfiltration, ultraFiltration, nanofiltration or reverse osmosis modules, to improve the quality of aquacultural water while minimize the wastewater discharge and increase the water reuse.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrated adsorption-solar photocatalytic membrane reactor for degradation of hazardous Congo red using Fe-doped ZnO and Fe-doped ZnO/rGO nanocomposites
TL;DR: In this work, synergistic effect of solar photocatalysis integrated with adsorption process towards the degradation of Congo red (CR) was investigated via two different approaches using a photocatalytic membrane reactor and it was observed that Fe-doped ZnO could enhance the photoactivity of ZNO under solar light.
