Journal ArticleDOI
The nuclear RNase III Drosha initiates microRNA processing
Yoontae Lee,Chiyoung Ahn,Jinju Han,Hyounjeong Choi,Jaekwang Kim,Jeongbin Yim,Junho Lee,Patrick Provost,Olof Rådmark,Sun-Young Kim,V. Narry Kim +10 more
TL;DR: The two RNase III proteins, Drosha and Dicer, may collaborate in the stepwise processing of miRNAs, and have key roles in miRNA-mediated gene regulation in processes such as development and differentiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vivo Tracking of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Labeled with a Novel Chitosan-coated Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles using 3.0T MRI
Alavala Matta Reddy,Byung Kook Kwak,Hyung Jin Shim,Chiyoung Ahn,Hyo Sook Lee,Yong Jae Suh,Eon Sub Park +6 more
TL;DR: The novel chitosan-SPIO enables to label and track MSC for in vivo MRI without cellular alteration and shows any cytotoxicity up to 200 µg Fe/mL concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and characteristics of the structural gene for the Drosophila eye colour mutant sepia, encoding PDA synthase, a member of the Omega class glutathione S-transferases
TL;DR: A new catalytic activity for an Omega class GST is discovered and that CG6781 is the structural gene for sepia which encodes PDA synthase, indicating that it is a homodimer under native conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional characterization of mesenchymal stem cells labeled with a novel PVP-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide.
Alavala Matta Reddy,Byung Kook Kwak,Hyung Jin Shim,Chiyoung Ahn,Sun Hang Cho,Byung Jin Kim,Sang Young Jeong,Sung Joo Hwang,Soon Hong Yuk +8 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the novel PVP-SPIO nanoparticles appear to be efficient MR contrast agents and may enable non-invasive in vivo tracking of stem cells in experimental and clinical settings during cell therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Guanine Deaminase Functions as Dihydropterin Deaminase in the Biosynthesis of Aurodrosopterin, a Minor Red Eye Pigment of Drosophila
TL;DR: It is shown that dihydropterin deaminase encoded by CG18143 plays a role in the biosynthesis of aurodrosopterin by providing one of its precursors, 7,8-dihydrolumazine, from 7, 8- dihydropter in flies cloned and expressed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry analysis.
