Journal Article
Placebo-controlled study of mycophenolate mofetil combined with cyclosporine and corticosteroids for prevention of acute rejection
Josep M. Grinyó,Carl-Gustav Groth,Rudolf Pichlmayr,Sa Sadek,Yves Vanrenterghem,M Behrend,R Luck,Francesc Moreso,J Peeters,J Rodicio,J Morales,Dagfinn Albrechtsen,P Fauchald,Sameh S. Sadek,J. P. A. Lodge,Jp Soulillou,Diego Cantarovich,van Willem Son,Adam Tegzess,Karl-Heinz Wagner,J Erhard,Christina Brattström,Lars Mjörnstedt,M. Wiesel,S. Persson,A Tarantino,M Campise,G Thiel,M Zeiler,R Hene,G Ligtenberg,A Morgan,K Rigg,Hooftman L,K Hutchinson +42 more
TL;DR: MMF significantly reduced the rate of biopsy-proven rejection or other treatment failure during the first 6 months after transplantation and was well tolerated, although the 3 g dose was somewhat less well tolerated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sirolimus (rapamycin)-based therapy in human renal transplantation: similar efficacy and different toxicity compared with cyclosporine. Sirolimus European Renal Transplant Study Group.
Carl G. Groth,Lars Bäckman,José-Maria Morales,Roy Y. Calne,Henri Kreis,Philippe Lang,Jean-Louis Touraine,Kerstin Claesson,Josep M. Campistol,Dominique Durand,L. Wramner,Christina Brattström,Bernard Charpentier +12 more
TL;DR: Sirolimus (rapamycin) is a potent immunosuppressant with a mechanism of action different from cyclosporine (CsA) or tacrolimus as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sirolimus Allows Early Cyclosporine Withdrawal in Renal Transplantation Resulting in Improved Renal Function and Lower Blood Pressure.
Robert W. G. Johnson,Henri Kreis,Rainer Oberbauer,Christina Brattström,Kerstin Claesson,Josette Eris +5 more
TL;DR: Sirolimus allows early cyclosporine withdrawal in renal transplantation resulting in improved renal function and lower blood pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multicenter trial exploring calcineurin inhibitors avoidance in renal transplantation.
Flavio Vincenti,Ramos El,Christina Brattström,S. Cho,Henrik Ekberg,Josep M. Grinyó,Rachel J. Johnson,Dirk Kuypers,F Stuart,A Khanna,Miguel Angel Navarro,Bjoern Nashan +11 more
TL;DR: This CNI avoidance study in immunologic low-risk patients, while only partially successful in preventing acute rejection, provided benefits to a sizable minority of patients who have not required chronic CNI therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved survival in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and end-stage diabetic nephropathy 10 years after combined pancreas and kidney transplantation.
Gunnar Tydén,Jan Bolinder,Göran Solders,Christina Brattström,Annika Tibell,Carl-Gustav Groth +5 more
TL;DR: A substantial reduction in mortality in IDDM patients 10 years after successful combined pancreas and kidney transplantation is found and it is speculated that the decrease in mortality was due to the beneficial effect of long-term normoglycemia on diabetic late complications.
