Updated Response Assessment Criteria for High-Grade Gliomas: Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology Working Group
Patrick Y. Wen,David R. Macdonald,David A. Reardon,Timothy F. Cloughesy,A. Gregory Sorensen,Evanthia Galanis,John DeGroot,Wolfgang Wick,Mark R. Gilbert,Andrew B. Lassman,Christina Tsien,Tom Mikkelsen,Eric T. Wong,Marc C. Chamberlain,Roger Stupp,Kathleen R. Lamborn,Michael A. Vogelbaum,Martin J. van den Bent,Susan M. Chang +18 more
TL;DR: The recognition that contrast enhancement is nonspecific and may not always be a true surrogate of tumor response and the need to account for the nonenhancing component of the tumor mandate that new criteria be developed and validated to permit accurate assessment of the efficacy of novel therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional diffusion map: A noninvasive MRI biomarker for early stratification of clinical brain tumor response
Bradford A. Moffat,Thomas L. Chenevert,Theodore S. Lawrence,Charles R. Meyer,Timothy D. Johnson,Qian Dong,Christina Tsien,Suresh K. Mukherji,Douglas J. Quint,Stephen S. Gebarski,Patricia L. Robertson,Larry Junck,Alnawaz Rehemtulla,Brian D. Ross +13 more
TL;DR: Overall, fDM analysis provided an early biomarker for predicting treatment response in brain tumor patients, revealing that early changes in tumor diffusion values could be used as a prognostic indicator of subsequent volumetric tumor response.
Journal ArticleDOI
EGFR, p16, HPV Titer, Bcl-xL and p53, Sex, and Smoking As Indicators of Response to Therapy and Survival in Oropharyngeal Cancer
Bhavna Kumar,Kitrina G. Cordell,Julia S. Lee,Francis P. Worden,Mark E. Prince,Huong H. Tran,Gregory T. Wolf,Susan G. Urba,Douglas B. Chepeha,Theodoros N. Teknos,Avraham Eisbruch,Christina Tsien,Jeremy M. G. Taylor,Nisha J. D'Silva,Kun Yang,David M. Kurnit,Joshua A. Bauer,Carol R. Bradford,Thomas E. Carey +18 more
TL;DR: Low EGFR and high p16 (or higher HPV titer) expression are markers of good response to organ-sparing therapy and outcome, whereas high EGFR expression, combined low p53/high Bcl-xL expression, female sex, and smoking are associated with a poor outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemoselection As a Strategy for Organ Preservation in Advanced Oropharynx Cancer: Response and Survival Positively Associated With HPV16 Copy Number
Francis P. Worden,Bhavna Kumar,Julia S. Lee,Gregory T. Wolf,Kitrina G. Cordell,Jeremy M. G. Taylor,Susan G. Urba,Avraham Eisbruch,Theodoros N. Teknos,Douglas B. Chepeha,Mark E. Prince,Christina Tsien,Nisha J. D'Silva,Kun Yang,David M. Kurnit,Heidi L. Mason,Tamara H. Miller,Nancy E. Wallace,Carol R. Bradford,Thomas E. Carey +19 more
TL;DR: Although the numbers in this study are small, IC followed by CRT is an effective treatment for SCCOP, especially in patients with HPV-positive tumors; however, for patients who do not respond to treatment, alternative treatments must be developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the functional diffusion map as an early biomarker of time-to-progression and overall survival in high-grade glioma
Daniel A. Hamstra,Thomas L. Chenevert,Bradford A. Moffat,Timothy D. Johnson,Charles R. Meyer,Suresh K. Mukherji,Douglas J. Quint,Stephen S. Gebarski,Xiaoying Fan,Christina Tsien,Theodore S. Lawrence,Larry Junck,Alnawaz Rehemtulla,Brian D. Ross +13 more
TL;DR: Functional diffusion maps (fDM) provided an early biomarker for response, TTP, and OS in patients with malignant glioma and were correlated with the radiographic response, time-to-progression (TTP), and overall survival (OS).
