TL;DR: In the Global Burden of Disease Study 2013 (GBD 2013) as discussed by the authors, the authors estimated the quantities for acute and chronic diseases and injuries for188 countries between 1990 and 2013.

TL;DR: An objective method to prioritise mapping efforts to begin to address the large deficit in global disease maps currently available and identifies a possible future strategy for those diseases where significant knowledge gaps remain, as well as recognising those where global mapping programs have already made significant progress.
Journal Article
The incremental effect of age-weighting on YLLs, YLDs, and DALYs: a response.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that once the values have been chosen, we should accept the consequences of the choice, and that the effect of age-weighting on years of life lost due to death at each age as well as the different effect on short and medium-term disability were taken into consideration.

Direct estimation of cause-specific mortality fractions from verbal autopsies: multisite validation study using clinical diagnostic gold standards
Abraham D. Flaxman,Alireza Vahdatpour,Spencer L. James,Jeanette K. Birnbaum,Christopher J L Murray +4 more
TL;DR: This work applied the King and Lu method to adult, child, and neonatal VA datasets from the Population Health Metrics Research Consortium gold standard verbal autopsy validation study, finding that KL would only be the preferred technique when the cause list is short and individual-level predictions are not needed.
