TL;DR: Clinical trials need to incorporate an analysis of chemotherapy in terms of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic effects of aging, and data already accumulated need to be reanalyzed by age to aid in the management of the older cancer patient.
Reference EntryDOI
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy for inoperable advanced pancreatic cancer
TL;DR: Chemotherapy appears to prolong survival in people with advanced pancreatic cancer and can confer clinical benefits and improve quality of life.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renal insufficiency in elderly cancer patients: International Society of Geriatric Oncology clinical practice recommendations
Vincent Launay-Vacher,Etienne Chatelut,Stuart M. Lichtman,Hans Wildiers,Christopher Steer,Matti Aapro +5 more
TL;DR: This work has shown that within each drug class, preference may be given to agents less likely to be influenced by renal clearance, which are minimally nephrotoxic, or for which appropriate methods of prevention for renal toxicity exist.
